Topic: Research to controlled collapse of jackets
For decommissioning of jackets a common method is to let jacket collapse after which it is cut in pieces to be completely recycled. This avoids a lot of cranage and working at height. Nevertheless a controlled method of letting a jacket collapse should be developed. Recently two similar types of jackets were decommissioned by which one of them collapsed way earlier than the other. This raised the question how this could happen as calculation does not directly show a logical relation. Therefore Allseas want to do further research into the root cause of this collapse and develop a standard approach to be used for future jacket decommissioning.
