Are you the drilling expert ready to tackle complex, one-of-a-kind offshore projects? Join our team and make a lasting impact!

Your role in the story

As a Foundation Engineer Drilling, you will work within the Technology department, specifically within the Foundation Engineering group. This team provides essential geotechnical support for product and business development, studies, tenders, and commercial projects within Wind, T&I, and Decommissioning. To strengthen our foundation team, we are seeking a drilling expert with a deep understanding of drilling tools, methods, and ground-related specifications. What makes this role unique? You'll work on one-of-a-kind projects that are both large-scale and complex. Your drilling expertise in assessing risks and identifying opportunities will be crucial in helping us succeed on challenging sites and meet the demands of exceptional, high-impact projects. Next to the above, you will determine the appropriate pile-driving equipment and assess stability during installation during the preparation phase of platform or monopile installations. Reviewing the pile design, including sensitivity to pile sway and performing a pile drivability analysis, will be key to planning and supporting the tender team’s risk analyses. Ready to make a significant impact and bring your drilling expertise to our dynamic projects?

What you will be working on:

  • Improving current Foundation methods and implementation;
  • Providing pile design input by performing pile installation, like pile drivability analysis and mono pile stability as well as installation aids / detailing of drilled and grouted foundations;
  • Engineering interface between drilling equipment and foundation and in-house engineers for preparation of all drilling-related equipment and structures and potentially liaise with drilling subcontractors;
  • Review on bottom stability and mud mat analyses for substructures (i.e. jackets and templates);
  • Being involved in selection, design, and allocation of pile installation equipment (i.e. hammers, pile lifting tools, followers, drilling and airlifting equipment, etc.);
  • The offshore monitoring of pile installation, and pile top and hammer sway motions;
  • Maintaining and improving the Foundation Experience Database to keep our models up to date;
  • Going offshore to provide Foundation Engineering support and interface with (drilling) subcontractor(s) on board the world’s largest crane vessels.

Education and Experience

  • You have graduated with a Bachelor or Master degree in Civil Engineering;
  • You are active in geotechnical business for at least 3-5 years;
  • You have previously worked on prospects/projects that involved drilled foundations (i.e. understanding of key risks/challenges for Contractors when executing drilling);
  • You have a sharp set of eyes to challenge drilling methods that are not yet the bread and butter for the company;
  • You have analytical skills to analyze pile installation and you will support and provide feedback to our project teams and clients.
  • You have software skills (like Python) or are eager to learn to improve programs;
  • You are willing to learn new (drivability) programs and help them improve based on (your own) offshore experience;
