Customs manager

Roveg Fruit BV is a leading importer and exporter of fresh fruit and vegetables from all over the world. Given the diversity in products and customers, there is no day the same. The Customs department is crucial in the transport of these products. They are responsible for import and export declarations, applying for certificates, inspection requests, processing these documents, and warehouse administration. To strengthen the customs team, we are looking for:

Customs Manager

As a customs manager, you are responsible for the daily affairs of the customs department. You lead a team of 7 declarants. You work with the team, guide and develop your team members, and ensure that the processes within the department are continuously improved. In addition, you are the first point of contact for customers regarding their customs clearance.

Below are a number of tasks and responsibilities:

• Daily and monthly planning regarding activities
• Responsible for management and development of team members
• First point of contact for team members
• Handling air, sea, and road transport
• Independently prepare all common customs declarations in accordance with legislation
• Classify according to a rate coding system
• Report customs technical problems and propose possible solutions
• Maintain contact with various government agencies
• Requests for import and export inspections
• Submitting and drawing up objections and petitions
• Processing the warehouse administration
• Processing import duties and similar taxes

What are we looking for?

• MBO+ / HBO level
• Professional diploma declarant
• At least 5 years of experience as a manager
• No 9-17 mentality
• Good command of Dutch, spoken and written
• In addition, the following qualities characterize you: stress-resistant, flexible, helicopter view, strong communication skills, setting priorities, and being strong in your own shoes.

Who are we? You work in an informal and friendly team, where people work hard. There is a rotation for on-call shifts in the evenings & weekends, these shifts last a week and run from Tuesday to Tuesday. This can usually be done from home. You will have the opportunity to contribute ideas to processes and will be deployed in all areas within the customs environment.
