The Research Institute of Child Development and Education (RICDE) at the University of Amsterdam is looking for a data steward.
Someone with interest in research data management and the broader field of privacy and open science. Someone who wants to support scientific staff and has affinity with the field of Child Development and Education.
You will advise and guide researchers on research data management, including how to collect, store, and securely share research data. In doing so, you are in close contact with the faculty’s ethics committee. Also, you are in close contact with the university’s legal department to discuss the judicial aspects of certain research projects and collaborations. You will also work together with the other data steward of the domain Child Development and Education, the data stewards of the other domains within the faculty, and the institute’s ethics review board. You are the first point of contact for researchers for all questions regarding research data management, including the storage and sharing of research data, privacy, and information security matters. In addition, you will contribute to courses for students and researchers on data management, privacy, and the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable). In this way, you also contribute to the research field of Child Development and Education.
Tasks:As a successful candidate, you are interested in learning about institute-wide research projects and solving the accompanying challenges, you are organized, flexible, and have an attention to detail, you are able to work independently, you have a pro-active attitude, and you are a team player who is good at working with a variety of people from different fields.
We offer a temporary employment contract for two years as ‘Data Steward 3’ (salary scale 10; €3.345 - €5.278 gross per month, based on 38 hours per week). The initial probation period is two months. Upon proven suitability and unchanged financial and organisational circumstances, the contract will be converted into a permanent employment contract. We are looking for a data steward for 19 hours per week, preferably starting on January 1st, 2025. Depending on the current developments, the position may be temporarily extended with 3.8 hours per week, preferably starting on January 1st, 2025.
