Your department

The ICT department has initiated a transition towards an Agile way of working. As part of this transition towards an improved ICT Target Operating Model (TOM), the Vanderlande ICT Core department is the backbone of our ICT Department, providing infrastructure, workplace, low-code platform, and data transport products to our internal organization. ICT Core contributes high value to our business and delivers cutting-edge products.

Your responsibilities

We are looking for a senior network engineer to join our core operations team. In this role, communication is key as you will maintain relationships with contacts in over 50 offices around the world, including our HQ in Veghel, Netherlands. You will maintain our current network infrastructure, perform required upgrades in consultation with dev teams, identify and remediate gaps, and keep both dev and ops teams updated to ensure optimal network performance. You will be the bridge between the dev and ops teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure solutions ensuring proper network connectivity of all sites, servers, workstations, and other network appliances.
  • Utilize network monitoring tools to maintain and troubleshoot LAN/WAN infrastructure issues.
  • Maintain and manage network routers, switches, firewalls, and data centers.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve highly complex network connectivity and security issues.
  • Proactively manage standards, topology documentation, configuration files for network infrastructure.
  • Participate in designing network security solutions and collaborate with ops team for implementation and management.
  • Advance changes to add required functionality or address ongoing network issues.
  • Communicate with related stakeholders such as ICT Service Centre, Dev Teams, and Leadership throughout incident activities.
  • Automate tasks and implement improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Solid knowledge and experience with network routing & switching.
  • Understanding of Aruba CX routing, Check Point firewalls, Internet & WAN, Network Load Balancers, Cloud networking, and Automation tools.
  • Familiar with network load balancing techniques, VPN solutions, and wireless solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and writing skills.
  • Manage third party vendors.
  • Ability to learn and support new systems and technologies quickly.
  • Excellent record keeping and attention to detail.
  • Experience with any Incident & problem ticket application software is a plus.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Computer Technology supporting systems, with at least 3 years as a Network Engineer.
  • Experience in a multi-location, Microsoft Windows/Linux, networked environment.
  • Other industry standard certifications (Microsoft, Cisco) are preferred.
  • Detailed understanding of network topology design and implementation.
  • Previous experience with Windows Server/Linux and VMware virtualization platforms is preferred.
  • Fluent in both English and Dutch (written and verbal).
  • Proven networking knowledge & skills (CCNP level or higher).

This position offers a competitive salary range of €4607 to €6200 gross per month (excluding 8% holiday allowance). Through exceeding performance expectations, you even have the possibility to grow beyond this scale.
