We are looking for a BI and reporting specialist to provide insight from cost data to our stakeholders, by transforming and visualising data into comprehensive reports and dashboards.

In this role, you will support the cost engineering department by developing reporting products in both Excel and Power BI. Besides developing reporting products, this role will provide a solid understanding of Van Oord’s business and offers the opportunity to meet many different colleagues throughout Van Oord. Depending on your ambition and affinity, this role could be a starting point to specialise further in the domain of BI development and analysis or grow towards an operational role in the business.

YOUR IMPACT

Your primary responsibility will be the design and development of reporting solutions for the cost engineering discipline. Specifically, you will:

  • Design, develop, and maintain Excel based reporting solutions tailored to business needs;
  • Support Power BI based reporting solutions;
  • Offer daily user support to users: ensuring smooth operation and resolving any issues with the reporting tools, provide user training, advising, and guidance to users;
  • Continuously improve and optimise reporting processes for greater efficiency and accuracy;
  • Create and update comprehensive technical documentation and user guides for reporting solutions.

Van Oord is an ambitious, enterprising organisation. "We Create", "We Care", "We work together" and "We succeed" are our company values. As a BI and reporting specialist within the Cost Engineering department, you contribute to these values by providing the best possible reporting products for our tender- and commercial teams. As a company with a global presence, Van Oord increasingly relies on quality data to support decision-making. This is especially key in cost estimating, so we are focused on building a strong and reliable foundation for our department’s data infrastructure and estimating capabilities.

The team you will be joining is the development team of the cost engineering department at Van Oord. Cost engineers at Van Oord make predictions or forecasts of project costs over time, and such predictions are needed from the first initiation to the completion of our projects. Typically, an estimate for a Van Oord project is detailed, and Van Oord executes many projects leading to a lot of data. To translate detailed estimate data into insights for decision-makers, Van Oord uses reporting solutions in Excel and Power BI.

ABOUT YOU

You are a detail-oriented professional who can transform complex datasets into meaningful insights. A strong communicator, you work well in teams and thrive in fast-paced environments. Your proactive approach helps you continuously improve reporting processes and deliver results.

  • You are passionate about data and skilled at turning complex data sets into actionable insights;
  • You have at least 3 years of recent experience in a BI role or similar position and possess a strong technical background in data modeling and visualization;
  • You have strong expertise in Excel, including advanced formulas and data modeling with Power Query, and are familiar with Power BI.
  • You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field;
  • You are an effective communicator in English; both written and spoken.

WE OFFER YOU

We offer you a position where you will make a significant contribution to our mission 'building a better world for future generations'. In addition, we offer you:

  • A salary in line with your responsibilities and experience;
  • Attractive travel and home office reimbursement;
  • 32 vacation days (of which a maximum of 7 are collective);
  • Variable bonus, depending on the company result, among other things;
  • An attractive pension plan;
  • Option for collective health insurance (Van Oord pays for your supplementary package);
  • Flexible home working arrangement; on a full-time basis you can work from home for 2 days.
  • Extensive development opportunities, including a very comprehensive online academy through Goodhabitz;
  • Communities to join, such as: Young Van Oord, Van Oord Women, and the Van Oord staff association;
  • Various events and sports activities, including winter sports, sailing weekend, cycling, field hockey, and motorcycling.
