Job Opportunity: Contribute to a Safe and Livable The Hague

Are you eager to make a significant impact on the livability of our beautiful city and ensure the safety of The Hague's residents?

The Hague's Pandbrigade is committed to enhancing the safety and livability of The Hague by addressing issues such as neglected maintenance, illegal construction, and unlawful or unsafe living conditions. You will play a crucial role in investigating potential illegal situations and constructions, working alongside your colleagues to ensure The Hague remains a safe place to live.

Your Role

You will become part of the Illegal Construction cluster within The Hague’s Pandbrigade, where collaboration and mutual support are key. Your responsibilities will include addressing illegal construction, housing partitions, and unlawful use of properties. You will also verify the presence of appropriate permits and ensure construction aligns with environmental plans. This role requires on-site inspections to assess situations firsthand.

Beyond imposing fines, you will tackle problems head-on, contributing to the city's structural improvements. You will prepare clear inspection reports and meticulously maintain your files, collaborating with legal colleagues who impose the appropriate sanctions based on your findings. In urgent situations, you will coordinate with external parties such as the fire department.

Qualifications

Your architectural insight and experience in enforcement enable you to understand complex situations. A curious nature helps you delve into issues, while your analytical abilities ensure you draft clear reports. You excel at working independently, taking responsibility in decision-making, and prioritize client orientation. Availability for occasional evening work is expected.

You also possess:

  • a completed vocational (mbo) or university (hbo) education in Architecture;
  • proficient Dutch language skills (English is a plus);
  • relevant experience in enforcement or architectural inspection;
  • preferably a valid driver's license B;
  • knowledge of the Environmental Planning Act and a willingness to undergo further training.

What We Offer

A varied role involving both outdoor inspections and office-based report compilation. You will have ample freedom to plan and organize your work in response to notifications.

Additionally, you can expect:

  • a 32 to 36-hour workweek with a salary ranging from €3,359 to €4,811 gross per month (scale 9), for a full-time (36-hour) workweek;
  • an individual choice budget (IKB) worth 17.05% on top of your salary, which you can allocate for extra leave or salary;
  • opportunities to accrue compensatory leave;
  • various training and development possibilities;
  • flexibility to achieve your optimal work-life balance with provisions like a laptop and phone, allowing you to work where it suits best;
  • and much more.
