Join Our Dynamic UK Real Estate Corporate Banking Team

We have an exciting opportunity to join our UK Real Estate Corporate Banking team, where your ambition will help us grow our lending in both the commercial and residential property sectors.

As the successful candidate, you will be the driving force behind designing, executing, and leading a robust strategy to elevate our market share, income, and lending balances within the UK real estate market. You will collaborate seamlessly with a diverse group of real estate specialist bankers across the UK Corporate and Investment Bank, as well as with teams in business development, real estate specialist lending, Credit Risk, Portfolio, Product, and Marketing.

In this role, you will be an ambassador for Barclays, engaging with key real estate sector professionals, investors, advisers, brokers, and complementary funders, fostering strong relationships to generate new opportunities and business. Your presence will be felt at key sector events, in publications, and through Barclays-driven thought leadership initiatives. Moreover, you will support a portfolio of real estate clients, driving growth, ensuring client satisfaction, and maintaining control over that portfolio.

As a senior team member, you will play a crucial role in developing your colleagues by providing coaching, sharing industry insights, and helping the Head of the London Real Estate team to ensure the highest standards of consistently excellent delivery.

Purpose of the Role

To establish and nurture profitable partnerships with corporate clients. It's the bridge between the bank's offerings and clients' needs, ensuring mutual benefit and long-term success.

Accountabilities

  • Management of client relationships to identify financial goals, challenges, and risk tolerance to support the analysis of data from various sources.
  • Research and understanding of the client's industry trends, regulatory landscape, and competitive environment to inform strategic recommendations.
  • Design of customized solutions that address the client's specific needs and objectives, incorporating a range of products and services from the bank's portfolio.
  • Communicate the value proposition of proposed solutions, justify recommendations, and negotiate terms beneficial for both the client and the bank.
  • Provide guidance to clients to support financial decisions, risk management, and wealth management strategies.
  • Assessment of financial, legal, and operational risks associated with client relationships, and implementation of measures to minimize potential losses.
  • Documentation of all client interactions, transactions, and agreements to ensure transparency and auditability.
  • Monitor client satisfaction, revenue generated, and other relevant metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of relationship management efforts.
  • Execute market research and analysis to identify potential new opportunities and develop strategies for business growth.

Director Expectations

  • Manage a business function, providing significant input to function-wide strategic initiatives.
  • Lead a large team or act as an individual contributor in organization-wide projects.
  • Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees.
  • Manage and enable resourcing, budgeting, and policy creation for a significant sub-function.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division to achieve overall business objectives.

  • Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level.
  • Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparties in other functions/business divisions.
  • Mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division.
