Internship Opportunity: Human Rights at Ahold Delhaize

As an intern in human rights within our Global Compliance and Ethics team, you will directly contribute to the exciting journey of delivering Ahold Delhaize’s human rights strategy and sustainability due diligence roadmap. You will have the chance to explore several human rights topics at one of the world's largest food retail groups. With many other interns joining the company, you'll embark on an exciting learning journey alongside your peers. It is a great place to get acquainted with Ahold Delhaize and develop yourself.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As an intern, you will contribute to our due diligence roadmap on human rights, collaborating with your colleagues from the Global Compliance and Ethics team. Supporting the Manager of Human Rights, you'll focus on key deliverables of the human rights roadmap, particularly concerning the supply chains of our own brand products. There's also room to leverage your personal strengths and interests when selecting projects as we onboard you. Your activities will include:

  • Setting up guidance documents on our salient human rights topics
  • Supporting the sustainability risk assessment process
  • Contributing to the content of our annual report
  • Supporting our social compliance program

This six-month internship, starting in February 2025, will require you to work 32-40 hours per week, both from our headquarters in Zaandam and from home. Through this experience, you'll learn about various aspects of human rights due diligence in different food and non-food supply chains, engaging with tasks like identifying risks, implementing mitigation measures, monitoring and reporting, and communicating outcomes.

Our Offer

  • An interesting and versatile internship at the headquarters of Ahold Delhaize for six months
  • Significant responsibilities that provide genuine work experience
  • An internship allowance (€500 per four weeks) plus travel expenses
  • Social events and networking opportunities with fellow interns
  • An inclusive environment for personal and professional development

Your Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is enrolled in a relevant Master's degree with a focus on sustainability, human rights, business, and innovation
  • Possesses knowledge of human rights impacts in supply chains
  • Has experience with European sustainability due diligence legislation (a plus)
  • Has excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in PowerPoint and Excel

In addition to the hard skills, you:

  • Are eager to learn
  • Have excellent organizational skills to work efficiently, prioritize, and allocate time wisely
  • Exhibit a hands-on mentality and can independently coordinate a project
  • Possess strong communication skills, with proficiency in English, suitable for an international environment & multi-cultural teams
  • Combine your passion for human rights with the ability to connect with people
