THE POSITION

Do you have an affinity with marine construction and do you see yourself working with state-of-the-art equipment that meets the latest technical standards? Van Oord is looking for 3rd Officers, preferably with experience on dredging vessels. As a 3rd Officer, you will ensure that assigned equipment is used in compliance with safety, maritime, and environmental regulations to achieve optimal production on board.

YOUR IMPACT

As a 3rd Officer during the watch, you will be responsible (together with the Chief Officer) for maintaining the navigational and operational processes, ensuring vessel productivity. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the 2nd Officer with all navigational duties and acting as the Safety Officer.
  • Optimizing the production and continuity of the vessel, overseeing operations with the Chief Officer.
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and maintaining safety equipment (ISM & ISPS).
  • Discussing methods to optimize the production process with the Master and Chief Officer.
  • Training and coaching 4th Officers and trainees on board.
  • Maintaining the ship's administration according to Van Oord standards.

ABOUT YOU

You are stress-resistant, flexible, and agile, with strong decision-making skills. You possess excellent communication abilities and a hands-on mentality. You have:

  • A maritime education at an intermediate or higher level, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Completed STCW courses and are ready to undertake additional Van Oord-required training.
  • Fluency in English at a professional level, suitable for international operations.
