Software Engineering Specialist

The Software Engineering Specialist independently executes advanced activities to deliver the engineering strategy and roadmap that supports BT's commercial strategy through cross-functional business partnering and the participation of a team that pursues innovation as well as engineering excellence.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Crafting next-gen software solutions using advanced React features, and integrating with GraphQL and AI services.
  • Engaging in hands-on development, focusing on React, Next.JS, and other contemporary frameworks.
  • Collaborating closely with Product Owners, Engineers, Designers, and other stakeholders within your agile squad to deliver unparalleled digital interfaces across the EE brand.
  • Pioneering enhancements on our systems to keep them at the forefront of technological innovation.
  • Ensuring robustness and reliability post-release and offering dedicated incident support.
  • Performing rigorous peer reviews to maintain our standard of excellence.
  • Aligning your technical solutions with our architectural tenets while ensuring they're performant, secure, and accessible.
  • Partnering with Lead Engineers, Engineering Managers, and Chapter leads to shape and refine our front end technical standards and strategies.
  • Provide leadership across our front Community of practices, building a strong sense of technical purpose across our engineers.

Skills and Experience

7 Plus years of experience:
  • Mastery in JavaScript with a focus on React, Hooks, Redux, and Next.JS. Expertise in HTML5 and CSS3.
  • Proficient in unit and integration testing tools, e.g., Jest.
  • Experience with JSON manipulation and robust API integrations.
  • Adept at performance optimization techniques.
  • Strong emphasis on quality, automation, and insightful metrics.
  • Proven ability in software configuration management tools like GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, etc.
  • Comprehensive understanding of front end architectures, patterns, and advanced tooling.
  • Seasoned in CI/CD processes, micro frontends, and mono repos.
  • Thrives in a dynamic agile environment, bringing problem-solving and analytical skills to the table.
  • Strong planning, time-management, and relationship-building skills, both within and external to the team.

Nice to have skills:

  • Flutter development prowess.
  • Proven experience in crafting mobile applications.
