Visual Merchandising Manager - IKEA Amsterdam

For many people, a day at IKEA is more than just picking out a new sofa or table. It's a day out. From Småland and the inspiring showrooms to the iconic Swedish meatballs, it's an experience. As a visual merchandising manager in Amsterdam, you are responsible for this shopping experience. Together with the team, you create an inspiring store environment that surprises customers with every visit.

Your Role

In your role as manager, you lead the Visual Merchandise team and act as the coach on the shop floor. Within the Communication & Interior Design (Com&In) department, you and your team are responsible for the store layout and product presentation, with the goal of positioning IKEA as a specialist in home furnishing and home furnishing solutions. You embody and reflect the IKEA concept to your team members and other partners. Through effective planning, you guide your team to help us achieve our goals. In this role, you will work closely with other teams such as Sales and Logistics.

What You Will Do

  • Ensure the concept is followed in terms of layout and range presentation.
  • Support the team during store renovation projects, discuss progress, and assist with clear planning.
  • Raise the knowledge level within the team by building a strong network with other visual merchandise managers across the country.
  • Carry out various HR tasks, such as performance reviews and discussing personal development.

Our Team Within IKEA

Can you imagine it? IKEA once started as a small mail-order company in Älmhult, a rural village in Sweden. Today, you can find us in 63 countries with a unique range of products. Working at IKEA means working in a world of ideas. It’s a world our colleagues describe as a place where everyone is welcome and where you can be yourself. A place where we make a difference together, for as many people as possible and for the planet. It’s also a workplace where you can determine your own career path, with plenty of room for your practical creativity and ideas. All of this while working in a great team with colleagues who are always there for you and ready to help when needed. As a manager, you will work in our Com&In department. This department consists of about 20 inspiring colleagues who are specialists in home furnishing. The team is made up of interior designers, store communication, and your team of 7 visual merchandisers. As a team, we continue to grow, and making mistakes is part of the process. That’s why we have a positive work atmosphere where everyone can and is encouraged to be themselves.

Who You Are

You believe that a safe working environment is the most important thing, so you are committed to creating that for your team. Through personal contact, you ensure that your people feel heard and seen. Your role as a manager challenges you, because you understand that happy and satisfied employees deliver great results. Every day is truly different, which is why you are flexible and handle changes well. Additionally, you know how to bring together the different interests of various departments. This convincing and connecting role suits you perfectly.

What Else You Bring to the Table

  • You have an interest in and an eye for design, and you see working within a concept as a challenge. You know how to inspire your team to create the most beautiful presentations.
  • You are skilled at planning, organizing, and managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • You are strong in communication, both in Dutch and English.
  • You have leadership experience, preferably in a retail environment.
  • You have a higher professional education (HBO) level of thinking and working, gained through education or work experience.
