At Picnic, we’re revolutionizing how people buy groceries with our innovative and sustainable app-only service. We do almost everything in-house, developing cutting-edge technologies and processes to ensure we continue to snowball without missing a beat. If you are passionate about building the Finance team of the future, we’re offering you the opportunity to join the diverse team at our Amsterdam office and make a real difference in our scale-up environment.

🥜 In a nutshell

We're looking for a dynamic Finance Projects Specialist to join our small, dedicated team of all-round specialists. Your mission: improve our Finance & FinTech organization day by day. We’re all about optimizing processes, building systems to support our expansion, and partnering with business teams to enhance control and insights. In this role, you'll be at the forefront of our annual Finance roadmap, driving parts of key projects that make a real impact.

🎯 What you’ll do

  • Own your projects: Take charge of your initiatives within the Finance projects & innovation roadmap.
  • Design, build, present, and implement changes to our Finance organization (such as: implementing internal controls, applying new accounting standards, building financial reports, and performing ad-hoc analysis on financial trends & accounting topics).
  • Data analysis: Understand data models to identify trends and root causes in our financial reporting.
  • Periodic reporting: Participate in activities related to periodic financial reporting.
  • Collaborate across teams: Build strong relationships with various business teams across Picnic.
  • Align with finance team: Coordinate with the finance team on projects and improvements.
  • Hands-on approach: Show a hands-on mentality in daily finance operations.
  • Support ad-hoc requests: Be a team player and assist with ad-hoc requests as needed.

Examples of projects could include building controls on our Emballage flows from suppliers, customers, hubs, fulfilment centers to collection points, further designing and establishing balance sheet & periodical controls, re-designing our inventory & receipts process or designing continued internal control mechanisms on our financial reporting processes. The Finance roadmap is ambitious, so creativity & perseverance are essential to succeed in this role.

⭐ About you

  • 3 - 7 years of experience in a Finance role, preferably within Financial or IT Audits, Accounting, Internal Controls, Vendor Due Diligence or as a BI specialist.
  • You now work either in Big4 as a Senior Associate/Senior Consultant/Junior Manager, or have a job in a Finance-team as (Assistant) Financial Controller/Finance Manager, Internal Control Specialist, BI-Specialist, or Accounting Specialist
  • You have a strong interest in ERP systems, Controls and/or Accounting process
  • You have a minimum University degree (preferably in Finance / Business Administration)
  • You enjoy diving into Finance processes and using Picnic's digital tools to drive efficiency
  • You have a natural pragmatic mindset, without compromising on quality, structure or efficiency
  • You have strong systems affinity, are eager to learn, and always strive for improvements
  • ERP-system knowledge is a plus
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written, Dutch, French, or German is a plus
  • Willingness to work from the office in Amsterdam at least 3 days a week
