Join Our Team as a PLC Control Engineer

Are you an experienced PLC Engineer who enjoys the challenge of fully developing and programming software programs for customer-specific projects? Do you enjoy working with smart and committed colleagues within an open corporate culture? Then we are definitely looking for you! Will you drop by for a cup of coffee and a tour?

What do we expect?

  • A passion for Software (!) where you get energy from working together in a team;
  • A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, industrial automation, control engineering, or similar;
  • Experience in industrial automation and/or mechanical engineering with knowledge of different systems and programming languages (SCL, Siemens TIA portal, Allen-Bradley);
  • Willing to travel and work abroad, approximately 10-15 weeks per year.

What do we offer:

  • A salary between €3.600 and €5.000 gross per month;
  • A workplace that stimulates your creativity and development;
  • An employment package (according to the Collective Labor Agreement for the Metalelektro) with 27 vacation days, 13 ADV days, and a good pension plan;
  • Access to our AWL Academy with >50 training programs;
  • Ability to work flexible hours.

Your Role

As a PLC Control Engineer at AWL, you will work with a multidisciplinary team on customized machines. This includes developing software that controls robots, vision systems, and welding equipment. You continuously know how to make the right analysis and make the best decision for bringing the machine to life. You will work out different "what if" scenarios, prepare and write code, simulate, test, and optimize cycle times. You are able to guide other departments in your procedure and act as an advisor. Besides developing code, you also have a strong coordinating and organizing role. Your duties include:

  • Development of software control designs (in UML);
  • PLC coding in SCL from Siemens TIA portal or Allen Bradley;
  • Supervise implementation within the project group and monitor progress;
  • Providing input for long-term developments;
  • Commissioning of machines at AWL and customer sites;
  • Customer contact in the form of training and guidance during implementation.

In this role, you will work closely with various disciplines including your immediate colleagues from System Engineering, Hardware, Robotics, and Project Management.

What do we ask from you? Being able to work well together is important within AWL. Because you work in projects, you never work alone. Working together with colleagues from different disciplines is therefore very important. In addition, you are critical and punctual. For you, it has to be right because you know what influence a wrong code can have on the operation of a machine. Finally, you have a healthy dose of self-confidence which enables you to be an advisor to both colleagues and customers.
