Join Us as a Fundamental Analyst

As one of the leaders in the energy transition, Eneco is pioneering new ways to harness sustainable energy and manage resources more efficiently. Do you want to be part of this journey? We are looking for talented professionals who are passionate about making a difference. If you thrive in a dynamic and collaborative environment, this is the perfect opportunity for you! We are searching for a Fundamental Analyst to drive our fundamental modeling and scenario analysis efforts. In this role, you will challenge the status quo, retain your independence of thought, and contribute to shaping the future of Eneco.

As a valued member of the Fundamental Analysis team, you will provide a long-term perspective of the future EU power system. Your work will significantly impact core business decisions, including the valuation of investment projects, strategy formation, and the realization of our One Planet Plan. You will drive the development of our fundamental power model in Plexos, co-create Eneco scenarios, and leverage your programming skills to enhance our data flows and apply machine-learning modeling enhancements.

You will spend 2-3 days a week working from home, focusing on your tasks, and the remaining 2-3 days at our office where you can socialize, liaise with stakeholders, and meet new people.

You are adaptable and can quickly understand new environments and situations through thorough analysis. You bring positive energy, a collaborative mindset, and execution power to our fast-paced organization.

Responsibilities

  • Driving the development of our fundamental power model (PLEXOS)
  • Quantifying and communicating long-term power scenarios that support investment projects and strategy formation
  • Extending our analysis to other commodities, power derivatives, and hydrogen
  • Engaging with various teams and stakeholders across Eneco, including Energy Trade, Asset Development & Realization, and Public/Regulatory Affairs
  • Incorporating programming into your work to streamline and innovate processes

Qualifications

To thrive in this role, you should be a strong communicator, adept at sharing insights and offering strategic guidance. You possess excellent programming, teamwork, and communication skills, and can offer clear and actionable advice. In addition, you have a genuine passion for the energy transition and a keen interest in exploring future scenarios that will shape the industry. Your ability to think critically about evolving energy landscapes and envision how sustainable solutions can be applied will be vital to your success in this role.

You also bring:

  • A degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related field, with several years of relevant work experience
  • A passion for teamwork, problem-solving, and collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders
  • A strong understanding of Central and Western European power markets; knowledge of carbon, fuels, hydrogen, and heat markets is a plus
  • Experience with PLEXOS or similar power market modeling software is highly valued
  • Proficiency in programming, with a preference for Python
  • A creative, analytical mindset that can envision and evaluate seemingly unlikely developments and their potential impacts
  • A results-oriented approach, with a willingness to learn and adapt in a flexible environment
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal
