The role

As Junior Project Manager Shipbuilding - Compact Class you are responsible for the engineering process and output within your discipline. Ensuring a smooth building process is your goal. You will manage an engineering team and engineering partners. You will also maintain contact with the client, or their representatives.

Other responsibilities are integration of purchased systems (and equipment) and maintaining frequent contact with co-makers and suppliers. Moreover, you will ensure that the building yard has all the required information and that the necessary approvals are attained. Depending on the project, you will be on board the ship throughout its trials before the ship is handed over to the client.

Key accountabilities

  • Managing an engineering team with engineers / lead engineers for the shipbuilding disciplines and support staff, in four phases: design check, basic engineering, detailed engineering and production support;
  • Giving technical support on projects when needed or asked for;
  • Managing Budget, Planning, Quality and Risks with regard to the engineering of vessels;
  • Contact with the client or their representatives and manager outsourcing of engineering work, ensure that necessary approvals are attained;
  • Managing the integration of purchased systems, equipment and the interfacing with other disciplines, including requests for quotations and the vendor data process;
  • Implementation of (standard) work processes in your project, organize review moments and preparation of status reports, organizing document control and configuration control;
  • Ensuring a good working environment and team spirit.
  • Activly participating the engineering where required

Skills & experience

We ask our future Project Manager Engineering Shipbuilding to bring the following:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture;
  • At least 1 year of relevant work experience with maritime engineeringin, the maritime sector; · Preferably experience with standardized shipbuilding and series construction;
  • Familiarity with the Rules and Regulations and being able to interpret it and translate it for our projects;
  • Experience with software packages such as AutoCAD and Nupas-Cadmatic;
  • English is a must, Dutch is a plus.

As a person you are:

  • Result-oriented, a Project Manager with initiative and management skills;
  • Quality conscious;
  • Decisive and at the same time flexible in your approach and works methodically;
  • Able to influence, put things into perspective;
  • Well able to manage expectations;
  • Willing to occasionally travel (short trips about 1 to 2 times a year).
