Head of Region UK

We are now looking for a Head of Region UK to lead our Operations team in Vattenfall’s Business Unit Offshore Wind.

The Head of Region UK is accountable for delivering safe, compliant, and world-class performance for operating offshore wind farms. The scope encompasses the operational KPIs, safety, availability, and operating cost, agreed in the yearly budget.

You'll be responsible for performance delivery of Vattenfall operated wind farms in the Region and will be accountable for all future projects in the region.

As the Head of Region UK, you manage a team of wind power professionals (about 4 direct reports and 35 indirect) with the aim to operate and maintain our growing fleet of wind farms in the Netherlands in a safe, cost-efficient manner to optimize electricity production and revenues.

As the Head of Region UK, you are part of the Business Area Wind, or BA Wind, the fastest-growing business area in Vattenfall.

We operate and build on- and offshore wind parks in the UK, Sweden, the Netherlands, Germany, and Denmark. In addition, we are building and operating solar parks and battery solutions in those five countries. In this role, you will lead a team of highly qualified and motivated wind operations professionals who ensure safe and efficient operations and maintenance of our wind farms to optimize electricity production and revenues. The NL team consists of various operational roles and functions such as technicians, service leaders, O&M managers, and High Voltage managers. The NL team plays an important role in maintaining a good relationship with local stakeholders.

The Head of Region UK reports to the Head of Regions and is a member of the Generation Operations Management Team. The Offshore Generation department is responsible for profitable and safe Operations and Maintenance of the wind farms and optimizing the long-term value creation of our Offshore Wind assets.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Manage the teams with a strong focus on health and safety, cost control, and optimization of electricity production and revenues.
  • Actively work on creating and maintaining a good team spirit.
  • Coach your team members to achieve good performance levels and support their personal development and ambitions.
  • Ensure that your team feels connected to the BA Wind and Offshore strategy and can contribute to that strategy.
  • Manage the relationship with the many internal stakeholders within Generations and also in Business Controlling, Health and Safety, Environment, Procurement, etc.
  • Build up and maintain external relationships and contacts on the management level with e.g. suppliers, shareholders, etc.
  • Be accountable for the delivery of annual availability (production) and cost KPIs through development of long, mid and short-term plans and optimizing daily operations at sites in the region.
  • Coordinate activities at sites delivered by Integrated Operations e.g. major component exchanges, inspections, cable repairs, and other major campaign projects, ensuring compliance with local regulations and KPIs.
  • Deliver the agreed Opex budgets for direct execution costs within the region and continuously identify and implement cost improvements to deliver the efficiency targets built into the wind farms' lifetime business case.
  • Senior stakeholder management including liaison with project partners and external suppliers.

Qualifications

  • Team player and team builder, with experience in leading teams, preferably in an operations environment.
  • Broad experience in asset operations, experience with wind farm operations is a plus.
  • Broad interest and good business sense.
  • A coaching leadership style, with a focus on personal development.
  • Energetic, motivated, and good at motivating others.
  • Structured worker who can set priorities and keep an overview across a large range of different topics.
  • Translate complex issues and tactical/strategic developments into practical guidance for your team members.
  • Strong at building and maintaining relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills on all levels.
  • Education on a Bachelor/Master level in a technical and/or business direction.
