The Role: Project Manager Engineering Shipbuilding

As Project Manager Engineering Shipbuilding, you are responsible for the engineering process and output within your discipline. Ensuring a smooth building process is your goal. You will manage an engineering team and engineering partners. You will also maintain contact with the client, or their representatives. Other responsibilities include the integration of purchased systems (and equipment) and maintaining frequent contact with co-makers and suppliers. Moreover, you will ensure that the building yard has all the required information and the necessary approvals are attained.

Key Accountabilities

  • Managing an engineering team with engineers and lead engineers for the shipbuilding disciplines and support staff, in four phases: design check, basic engineering, detailed engineering, and production support.
  • Giving technical support on projects when needed or asked for.
  • Managing budget, planning, quality, and risks with regard to the engineering of vessels.
  • Contacting the client or their representatives and managing the outsourcing of engineering work to ensure that necessary approvals are attained.
  • Managing the integration of purchased systems, equipment, and interfacing with other disciplines, including requests for quotations and the vendor data process.
  • Implementing (standard) work processes in your project, organizing review moments and preparation of status reports, organizing document control and configuration control.
  • Ensuring a good working environment and team spirit.

Skills & Experience

We ask our future Project Manager Engineering Shipbuilding to bring the following:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience in managing engineering projects in the maritime sector
  • Experience with maritime engineering
  • Familiarity with the Rules and Regulations and the ability to interpret and translate them for our projects
  • Experience with software packages such as AutoCAD
  • English is a must, Dutch is a plus
