Role Overview

What You Will Be Doing

You will integrate and support engineering teams to provide Human Factors specialist knowledge to assist the development of products and manufacturing processes from concept through to decommissioning. Working with engineering teams collaboratively to provide early input to enable end users to benefit from solutions designed around the operator/soldier/airman/sailor.

You will provide support to emerging engineering and production projects with Human Risk Management, integrating with the Systems Engineering approach to realise net gains in production quality and process efficiencies. This role is wide-ranging and has both practical and theoretical elements, working with operators and engineers to achieve real-world solutions that are cost-effective.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Providing HFI support under the guidance of the HF discipline lead in the design of products and processes.
Responsibilities include:
  • Capturing and managing human factors requirements, risks, and opportunities.
  • Providing guidance to design. Conducting testing and evaluation. Supporting acceptance and review.
  • Plan and execute quantitative and qualitative human factors assessments.
  • Use direct measurement, survey, interview, observational and documentation methods to collect data.
  • Conduct Human Failure/Reliability Analysis.
  • Provide advice on the usability of standard operating procedures and exchange of critical information.
  • Provide guidance to queries on fatigue and shift work decisions.
  • Conducting and managing HF trials in a safe and suitable manner, from the trials planning stage to completion and presentation of the data.

Qualification Requirements

As a minimum requirement you’ll need to have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, a 2.2 in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:

  • Human Factors or Ergonomics
  • Manufacturing Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Product/Industrial Design
  • Psychology
  • Human Sciences
  • Health Sciences
  • Safety Science
