For this role, we are looking for a French-speaking candidate with 1-3 years of bidding experience who will be working on exciting national and international projects across a range of sectors.

Role Context:

Royal HaskoningDHV is a market leader and has a significant growth strategy focused on sustainability, innovation, and a range of new digital services. We seek to recruit a French-speaking individual in the role of Assistant Bid Manager to join our Proposals and Business Development team and support the development of winning bids. These may range from short letter proposals (<£10k fee) to large and complex bids/framework submissions (>£5m fee).

You will work on global projects in regions such as Africa, the Maghreb, the Caribbean, and France. Your clients will be native French speakers, so effectively communicating with these clients is mandatory. Initially, your colleagues will be based in the UK and the Netherlands, providing opportunities to visit our European offices.

Job Role:

You will be responsible for assisting the bid development process within our Water & Maritime, Mobility & Infrastructure, and offshore wind market sectors all the way through to submission and handover. Responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out reviews of Request for Proposal documents to identify critical requirements (e.g., key dates, expertise needed, and client queries, etc.).
  • Arranging and leading tender kick-off meetings and developing bid management plans.
  • Assembling teams of specialist internal staff and external sub-consultants (as required), quickly building a strong working rapport in the process.
  • Preparing eye-catching documents that capture win themes, programmes, diagrams, etc.
  • Integrating methodology text and fees provided by experts/sub-consultants.
  • Producing high-quality written content in both English and French to support our clients across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.
  • Arranging technical and commercial reviews.
  • Working under the constraints of time and allocated budgets to ensure timely submission of bids.
  • Responding to client queries and supporting (or taking part in) tender interviews.
  • Leading lessons learned reviews and capturing feedback for continuous improvement of the proposal process.
  • Contribute to the development of best practice bidding skills by upskilling technical staff.
  • Liaise with RHDHV’s Social Value Director to assist with the coordination, monitoring, and reporting on Social Value delivery across our project portfolio.

This role might be right for you if you have:

  • Fluency at a (near) native level in French and an excellent command of English (essential). (C2 – CEFR)
  • 1-3 years of experience in a similar bidding or sales role.
  • Qualified in a graphic design or marketing field with a proven ability for creative writing.
  • Experience working on bids for financial institutions (e.g., World Bank, Asian Development Bank, etc.) is desirable.
  • Ideally a member of APMP (Association of Proposal Management Professionals) or similar.
  • Experience in the Renewable Energy, Industrial, Manufacturing, Maritime, Water, or civil engineering/infrastructure sectors is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience working on successful large framework tenders or multi-disciplinary bids is desirable.
  • A high standard of communication skills (both written and verbal), with a proven ability to influence (both in French and English).
  • Excellent people skills to lead, encourage, and motivate others.
  • Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office (Essential), Adobe InDesign (Essential), MS Project (Desirable).
  • Dependable, pro-active, and self-motivated with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines.
