Join Picnic as a UX Researcher

At Picnic, we’re revolutionizing the way people buy groceries with our innovative and sustainable app-only service. Picnic offers you the opportunity to work in an innovative scale-up culture where everything you do matters. With a human-centered approach, we have built an incredible service. Testing on a weekly basis, we rely on customer insights to help us evolve our service. We are looking for a UX Researcher to strengthen our growing UX Research team.

🥜 In a nutshell

As our UX researcher, you will work collaboratively with Data Analysts, Product Owners, and Designers to develop the full user experience of Picnic’s products. With an open personality, you’re able to empathize with end-users on a weekly basis, whether that’s by guiding users through prototypes or investigating a new topic.

Half of the week, you initiate, plan and execute hands-on research activities. The other half is used to observe and analyse user behaviour and communicate those insights effectively to various teams and stakeholders. You experiment with research approaches to answer important questions. How can we make in-app customer service more accessible? How do customers decide what to eat? How can we make delivering our groceries safer for our runners? Every week presents new challenges to explore, frame, and evaluate. Understanding both the big picture and the details, you examine insights from unique angles to bring a deeper understanding of customer experience and provide testable hypotheses.

You combine quantitative and qualitative insights to help build new design features. You are an instigator, outcome-driven, and an excellent communicator. Your ideas make customer interaction more tailored, developed, and engaging. With both curiosity and initiative, you drive design decisions to help shape the future of in-app grocery shopping.

🎯 What you’ll do

  • Take ownership of research activities to bring deep level insights
  • Provide new hypotheses to test and explore
  • Collaborate with designers and test prototypes on a weekly basis
  • Document sessions and present actionable insights to both consumer-facing and employee-facing teams
  • Be the face of Picnic and engage with customers
  • Strive for continuous improvement to take our UX team to the next level

⭐ About you

  • Recently graduated with a Master’s Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Human Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Product Design, Consumer Behaviour) or experience in UX Research.
  • Analytical Eye: You’re not a data wizard, but you’re familiar with Excel and know how to visualize and interpret data.
  • Able to reason on a high level about various topics, ability to quickly understand and discuss both business and technical concepts
  • Excellent communicator: You know how to strike up a conversation with anyone and know how to present insights succinctly
  • Flexibility: Agile approach and ability to learn on the go
  • Creativity: Outside-the-box thinking and passion for details
  • Affinity for or previous experience with digital design is a plus
  • Fluency in both Dutch and English. German and French are a plus
