AniCura strives for delivering the best veterinary care. Our motto is “Shaping the future of veterinary care together”. The Financial Shared Service Center (FSSC) for the Netherlands and Belgium is there to be an excellent business partner for the Clinics to achieve that goal.

Your (and our) biggest challenge

We need excellent financials that make sure we know how we do financially. The FSSC is there to deliver reliable and correct financial reporting, and to ensure that we are in control. You, as a financial controller, play a big role in that. On the other hand, you are expected to tell the story behind the numbers and use them to improve processes together with your team. Your interest in (and preferably your experience with) the usage of BI tools and implementing automation for recurring financial processes ensures that your team can spend more time on storytelling and explaining the numbers.

Your role and responsibilities

You will be a great addition to the Record to Report team of the Shared Service Center. You will be responsible for the financial control of clinics within the cluster. You will work with other financial controllers within the R2R team for timely and reliable group reporting. For the daily operational financial processes, you will review invoice processing and cash management for the clinics you bear the responsibility for. You will be responsible for the reconciliation of balance sheet and profit and loss accounts. You will assist with supporting documentation and process explanations during the annual external audit. As part of the SSC team, you will participate in improvement projects, for example automating processes and enhancing BI tools used or improving internal control at the clinics. We do expect you to proactively come up with ideas for these improvements, discuss them with the head of SSC and the rest of the team and, if all agree, take control and make it happen.

Why are you the one that can make this happen

  • You are a strong analytical person, focused, and experienced in seeing and telling the story behind the numbers.
  • You are a team player who can also manage on your own. Your team will make sure you get a good start, and you can always rely on any team member, but we will let you find things out on your own as well.
  • Your analytical skills help you to understand processes and your creativity and IT savviness allow you to plan and execute improvements.
  • You are a great team player, willing to help others and support the business whenever needed. You can motivate and coach the junior financial controllers.
  • You want to stay in control but are pragmatic enough to deal with the cultural differences that come with an international environment.
  • It is common practice for you to proactively talk and inform stakeholders and include them when needed.
  • You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or controlling.

Your colleagues and workplace

Our cluster head office is based in Amsterdam. Finance shares the office with other Cluster group teams like IT, Marketing, and HR, and with the pets that we bring into the office. Working remotely, however, is perfectly fine, and as a finance team, we try to be in the office twice a week.

The SSC Finance consists of the Head of the SSC, a team led by the process lead Governance and Control, and the Record to Report team, which you will be part of.

Our ideal candidate:

  • Minimum qualification HBO Accountancy
  • Experience with Dutch GAAP and local Taxes (CIT and BTW) is an advantage
  • 1-3 years of relevant working experience in Accounting or Controlling
  • Key competencies: Building effective teams, Drives Engagement, Manages Ambiguity
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently
  • Critical thinking and a proactive approach
  • Fluent in Dutch is an advantage
  • Fluent in English

What can you expect from AniCura?

  • Join a purpose-driven company, where we’re striving to shape the future of veterinary care, together.
  • An industry-competitive salary and benefits package.

  • The opportunity to cuddle our beloved 4-legged friends in our offices.
