As a Barclays Lead Java Developer, you will be designing and developing critical components for connectivity to trading venues. You will be given a unique opportunity to become a member of a global multi-national agile team of experienced engineers and learn new technologies and skills. This is an exciting chance to be designing and developing critical components that form the very core of the Equities Electronic Trading business: Smart Order Routing and Algorithmic Trading strategies.

What will you be doing?

Learning various technical and business aspects of application within equities electronic trading stack

Designing and implementing solutions for above-described projects

Communicating with key stakeholders in a professional and constructive manner

Producing code that is appropriate for a low-latency java platform

Being accountable for mentoring more junior colleagues

Engaging in detailed dialogue with subject matter experts to drive consensus on solutions

What we’re looking for:

Experience with designing Java applications

Experience with Core Java and Java ecosystem including Maven, unit testing, continuous integration, source code version control and issue tracking

Well organized; able to prioritize, accurately track status & update stakeholders

Experience of developing/running Java applications under Linux

Skills that will help you in the role:

Experience with messaging middleware (Kafka/Solace/Apache ActiveMQ)

Experience in electronic trading and financial markets

Experience with market data or exchange connectivity protocols

Knowledge of C++ and/or UNIX scripting
