As a Barclays Transaction Monitoring Product Owner or Data Analyst, you’ll focus predominantly on the development & optimisation of Transaction Monitoring (TM) solutions for in-scope Barclays UK (BUK) & Barclays International (BI) businesses / locations. Working together with Financial Crime colleagues, you’ll support the development, implementation and optimisation of automated Surveillance TM solutions, supporting regular review & optimisation of TM solutions, maximising effectiveness & efficiency, and ensuring a risk-based approach is taken.

What will you be doing?

Supporting the development of the Model Risk Methodology framework to ensure that it fulfils the requirements of the Internal Model Validation team and the wider TM function


Working with colleagues to support the development, implementation and optimisation of Global TM solutions and capabilities


Supporting with innovation within the field of TM, and data analytics, taking inspiration from pioneering teams within Barclays, leading peer institutions, to enhance TM capabilities


Working with product owners, compliance analytics and Quant analytics team to identify and explore modelling, Machine Learning etc. to enhance TM monitoring capability


Designing, maintaining and improving the MI dashboard and provide strategic vision to leverage MI for informed risk decision making


Engaging with key Business, Operational, Technology and Financial Crime stakeholders across the lines of defence to comprehend key priorities for the bank


Working with colleagues to support the development, implementation and optimisation of Global Surveillance TM solutions and capabilities


Working closely with consumers of Financial Crime/Surveillance TM data to ensure capabilities and limitations are understood correctly

What we’re looking for:

Proven SME expert level record in implementing, optimising and tuning TM systems or similar financial crime controls


Familiarity with Transaction Monitoring and AML combined with Experience in development of data visualisations/dashboards; preferably Tableau or similar (such as Qlikview, PowerBI)


Solid grasp of Data Management & Model Validation principles and controls


Capability to concisely communicate technical ideas and concepts to a range of audiences in a variety of circumstances

Skills that will help you in the role:

SQL familiarity and experience


Solid grasp of statistical models - their strengths and weaknesses, as well as performing and documenting testing approaches.


Experience in development of data visualisations/dashboards; preferably Tableau or similar (such as Qlikview, PowerBI)


Hands on experience of common Data Science tools, libraries and languages (SQL , Python, R, Scala, Spark)
