With your technology skills, you will facilitate KLM’s Inflight Services and be responsible for hands-on delivery: building, maintaining, and integrating complex KLM frontend/backend systems and APIs in our catering domain.As a result of your work, our suppliers, partners, customers, crew, and station managers will receive optimised product forecasting for flight schedules and products on board, positively impacting sustainability and our customer and crew experience.

What will you do?

Combine hands-on contributions in engineering and architecture with managing a group of software engineers on the same business platform. The Engineering Leader is responsible for the individual career development, performance and well-being of the team’s software engineers. Delegated by the Director of Technology, they will drive the technical strategy and architecture of one or more products within the platform, defining the architecture vision & roadmap together with the Director of Technology with input from the engineers and engineering leaders. The engineering leaders drive the engineering communities of practice, culture, craftsmanship, best practices and mindset to create the optimal work climate that generates maximum business impact.

Where do you land?

You will land in Business Platform Flight and together with your colleagues, you will be technically responsible for building the future and roadmap of our digital systems and finding engaging and productive ways for the partners, customers, caterers, station managers and crew to interact with those applications.

Your profile

You are a leader who embraces agile working and has ambitions to learn about Flight Operations business processes and translate those into future-proof roadmap architecture and IT solutions.With your strong communication skills you are equipped to seamlessly switch your communication style for different stakeholders such as business stakeholders, software engineers, business product analysts, scrum masters, product owners and of course the end users, our crew, suppliers and partners.

  • You should have a Bachelor’s in Computer Science or a related field.
  • You should have 7+ years of software engineering background with proficiency in native cloud/Azure engineering, observability, security, and the DevOps methodology. You should demonstrate expertise in crafting and implementing top-tier, highly accessible, scalable backend applications and APIs using Java, Spring/Spring Boot, Kubernetes, Kafka.
  • You should have solid architectural and system design capabilities, including expertise in best practices and methodologies.
  • Additionally, experience in complex projects, particularly within a large-scale enterprise setting, is advantageous.
