Assistant Buyer

London - Hybrid Working Permanent Full Time Grade 3

As an Assistant Buyer within the commercial function, you will be working within a core category in the Appliances squad, with the opportunity to work with key brands such as Beko, Whirlpool, Rangemaster & Smeg. You’ll be working closely with the Buyer to support with bringing the most compelling range and great value products to our customers. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to be in a fast-paced buying role, is proactive, organised, has great communication and wants to develop their career within Buying with great opportunities for progression.

To support your development, you’ll have the opportunity to complete a Level 4 apprenticeship Buying & Merchandising! You'll be able to start your apprenticeship after 3 months of joining the team (subject to eligibility).

Duties & responsibilities:

• Helping to manage supplier relationships in line with the category strategy
• Selecting and negotiating product ranges and pricing
• Keeping tabs on the competition so we can set competitive prices
• Analysing trading performance and recommending actions to drive our business
• Support the Senior Buyer in negotiating product ranges – cost pricing, additional terms, exclusivity, distribution, stock availability
• Pricing the product range in line with agreed category CPI targets

Required experience/qualifications:

• 1-2 years' experience of being part of a buying function (as an Assistant buyer or Administrator) and a great working knowledge of technical products
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills
• To be organised, analytical and numerate with good judgment
• Strong commercial awareness and a sense of customer needs
• Marketing/Merchandising/Retail/Business Degree
