About the role:

The Senior Compliance Engineer is essential for maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient testing environment in the lab, ensuring that all testing procedures are performed accurately and in compliance with relevant standards.

This role will report directly to the Lead C&A Engineer, providing regular updates on lab activities, test progress, safety concerns, and any issues that require technical guidance or decision-making. Effective communication and collaboration with the Senior Engineer and Engineer are essential aspects of this position to ensure smooth operations and adherence to engineering and testing standards.

Overview – Department:

The Compliance & Approvals Department is responsible to ensure that all Dyson products are in compliance with all relevant Safety, Materials and EMC regulations, standards, and legislations. These include testing and certification based on commonly adopted international regulation and standards (IEC/UL Standards and etc.) as well as country/region specific legislations (CE/EU directives, DENAN, REACH, RoHS, Prop65 and etc.).

We monitor and guide design engineers to ensure that all Dyson products are safe, and we liaise with the relevant authority in every country we market our products, providing them with all certificates and other requisites to allow sales in that particular country. We work closely with Intertek, SGS, TUV and other independent and accredited test service providers.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

This position combines both leadership and operational responsibilities, involving the execution of Safety/EMC/RF tests and the supporting of lab personnel. The Senior Engineer is responsible to provide a support and assistance for maintaining a safe and efficient lab environment, adhering to standards, and assisting generating accurate pre-test results and pre-reports. They are responsible for managing various tasks related to testing, equipment maintenance, and safety protocols, ensuring a well-organized and productive work environment.

To support the Compliance & Approvals laboratory team in administrative and operation tasks, this shall include, but not by way of limitation, the following:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide design engineers to ensure product safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Work with relevant authorities to provide necessary certificates for product sales.
  • Collaborate with independent test service providers such as Intertek, SGS, and TUV.
  • Determine the scope of product safety/EMC approval tests, develop compliance plans, and set project specifications.
  • Conduct testing activities according to international standards for home appliances (UL / IEC / EN / JIS / EU directives).
  • Examine test samples and understand blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and operational instructions.
  • Evaluate test performance and provide feedback to the design team, reviewing test and construction data.
  • Collaborate with approval authorities for product certification and safety audits.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements in lab activities.
  • Any other administrative tasks as identified by Superior.

Qualifications:

Degree or equivalent experience in an Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical discipline.

At least 3 years of experience in product safety compliance, with knowledge of international safety standards (IEC, UL, GB, EN) & familiar with the testing laboratory requirements of ISO/IEC 17025.

  • Significant experience in testing or R&D within an Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical background.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English, with strong skills in understanding and discussing international safety standards.
  • Analytical skills for problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently with some supervision.
  • Motivated, with good communication, planning, and organizational skills, and the ability to work within a team.
