Are you ready to make a difference in the world of Oncology? The Medical Advisor is an office-based medical affairs professional with strong scientific and therapeutic-area knowledge. Primarily responsible for national tasks, they may also handle Baltic responsibilities. Key duties include executing medical activity plans for AstraZeneca’s marketed products and compounds in development, translating scientific knowledge into business strategies, and leveraging external insights to enhance decision-making. The role involves engaging in non-promotional scientific discussions and presentations, acting as the medical representative in local cross-functional teams, handling medical writing tasks, reviewing promotional and non-promotional materials and regulatory documents, and serving as the local Medical Information contact. The Medical Advisor collaborates with internal stakeholders, operates within the Global MSL Standard and Baltic SOP guidelines to ensure compliance, and reports to the Medical Affairs Department without commercial objectives, although they may communicate strategic objectives and KPIs to commercial stakeholders for alignment.

Accountabilities:

  • Scientific Leadership & Engagement: Conduct medical/scientific exchange activities to increase comprehension of relevant clinical data

  • Insight gathering and translation into actionable strategies: Increase understanding of therapeutic areas and clinical practice to impact strategy

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop, enhance and maintain external stakeholder engagement

  • Clinical Development: Support the scientific programs that explore unmet medical needs in priority disease areas

  • Scientific/Subject Matter Expertise: Act as scientific expert in priority disease area(s) for internal stakeholders

  • Personal Development: Continually demonstrate development of: Scientific expertise in disease area(s) of company focus

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in life sciences or a related discipline

  • Customer-facing experience

  • Pro-active mindset with respect to engaging external stakeholders (e.g. HCPs)

  • Experience working on cross-functional teams

  • Proven expertise in discussing scientific content and context to a variety of audiences

  • Established project management ability

  • Excellent presentation skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent knowledge in English language and proficiency in Estonian

  • Excellent understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, health care systems and payer structures in the Baltic countries

  • Ability to travel

  • Driver’s license required

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Medical Doctor

  • Advanced scientific degree in life sciences or a related field

  • Two+ years of experience from medical affairs

  • Clinical and/or research experience within relevant therapeutic area

  • Strong leadership and management capabilities
