Senior Cloud Engineer

As a Barclays Senior Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for driving all technical aspects of delivery, setting and improving technical direction and standards for development and design across the platforms, supporting our products and services for our UK customers. You will report directly to the Global Head of Digital, Everyday Money Management (EMM) and be responsible for designing and building Digital platforms and for making priority decisions about the scope of deliverables when faced with budget or technical constraints.Barclays is one of the world's largest and most respected financial institutions, established in 1690, with a legacy of success, quality, and innovation. What will you be doing?

Driving Cloud-first first strategy for the Digital channels and building the new digital platforms for Everyday Money Management systems

Leading the design and build of new digital platforms across all EMM Digital channels – mobile, web and colleague channels

Contributing to the Digital strategies, and supporting delivery of said strategies

Creating enhanced forward compatible technical capability in the teams in-line with technology and business strategies, across geographies

Driving platform innovation and roadmaps to modernise and future proof the technology estates, and uplift resiliency, stability, security and simplification

Driving the use of consistent components, tools, technologies and frameworks within the platforms

Enabling agile delivery through continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), test automation at all levels

Championing the workforce strategy as we look to continue to recruit world class engineering capability across our strategic campus locations (across the UK and India)

What we’re looking for:

Extensive experience in designing, building and operating cloud platform and degree level in computer science or a similar field

Demonstrable hands-on experience in in creating infrastructure-as-a code, policy as a code using terraform or cloudFormation

Experience of building CI/CD pipeline and driving automation and of building Canary and blue/green deployment for cloud and on-prem workloads

Excellent communication, influencing and collaborative skills

Skills that will help you in the role:

Azure, AWS, and GCP certifications preferred

Experience with SysOps

Experience in Financial Industry

Designing and building multi-region cloud solutions

Where will you be working?

You will be based in Radbroke Hall, Knutsford. The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our Tech Command Centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations. The campus is set in a 64-acre self-contained site, in a beautiful green environment and it offers unrivalled facilities for work and for play. We have an onsite gym, as well as outdoor tennis, football and cricket areas, as well as onsite restaurant and coffee shops.
