We are Business Discipline SAS-Hytop, part of the Offshore Energy (OE) product market group (PMG). We provide products and services to the Global Oil & Gas, Dredging and cable lay market. Our core expertise is in equipment for Pipelay, FPSO and Winches & Hydraulics for the dredging market. The variety of systems that our clients deploy in their offshore projects is wide and versatile. BD SAS-Hytop designs, builds, commissions and service such bespoke systems.

Our Engineering department translates the functional challenges towards technical specifications, that can be build and put into operation. The Engineering department consists of different disciplines, such as system architecture, electrical, automation, mechanical, hydraulic and manufacturing engineering.

As a Mechanical Engineer at the BD SAS-Hytop of Royal IHC, you will design and engineer equipment that will be put to work in a maritime environment. Examples of equipments are: winch systems, tensioners, hose reel systems, sheaves.

For our growing market we are looking for a Mechanical Engineer. In this role, you will report to the Lead Engineer and cooperate within a team of engineers from the various disciplines and other departments, such as sales, procurement, fabrication and service.

Your key responsibilities as Mechanical Engineer:

  • Taking responsibility for generating concept, basic and detail designs for various equipment.
  • Responsible for the manufacture information of a basic design and engineering package based on and in line with specifications, relevant rules and regulations.
  • Revise the basic or detailed engineering package and discuss with the lead engineer making necessary calculations required for the mechanical design giving technical support to the Procurement department.
  • Delivering input for progress reporting, costing and project planning.
  • Supporting and helping colleagues.
  • Performing the necessary strength and fatigue analyses and studies, including accompanying reports and specifications.
  • Translating product standards and requirements into technical specifications.
  • Ensuring the working environment is enjoyable and cooperation among the team is achieved.

To be eligible for this position, you must have:

  • At least a higher vocational education (HBO) and/or an academic higher education (WO) in marine or mechanical discipline, or other relevant field.
  • Three years’ experience in a similar position and with software such as Femap, Ansys, AutoCAD, Teamcenter, SolidEdge and ERP System (IFS is a pré)
  • Excellent communication skills and linguistic ability, preferably in both English and Dutch.
  • Be comfortable working with automated systems.
  • The ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of engineering processes in a project-based work environment.
  • Knowledge of dredging and/or the offshore market (desirable).
  • Knowledge of modern engineering processes and methods.
  • The ability to follow developments with regard to the relevant regulation and markets.
