FX DevOps Engineer

As a Barclays FX DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for helping us build functional systems that improve the customer experience. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate and work with developers and engineers to ensure that software development follows established processes and works as intended. In this role, you will also help to plan projects and be involved in project management decisions.

What will you be doing?

Participating in automate deployment, monitoring, and management process using configuration tools (Rancher, kubectl) and CI/CD pipelines

Leading the migration of legacy systems to modern-cloud-based environments, ensuring minimal disruption to operations and maximum efficiency gains

Designing and implementing Docker containers and container orchestration solutions to improve deployment speed, scalability and resource utilization

Collaborating with cross-functional teams to assess current infrastructure and identifying areas for improvement

Developing migration and Dockerization strategies aligned with business objectives and developing scripts to automate monitoring and visualization (ELK, Grafana, ITRS)

Interacting with senior IT and business personnel at both Director and Managing Director level

Proposing solutions to complex problems that are in keeping with the existing system architecture

What we’re looking for:

Experience as a DevOps engineer or software engineering role with DevOps focus

Solid experience with Docker, building & deploying services on Kubernetes and with REST, Kafka, Solace, microservices-based architectures

Must have Jenkins, Maven, Gradle and GitLab or GitHub CI/CD experience

Knowledge of Monitoring and Observability Tools like Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk and knowledge of application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines

Skills that will help you in the role:

Working knowledge of databases and SQL

Experience as a DevOps engineer or software engineering role with DevOps focus

Bachelor of science degree (or equivalent) in computer science, engineering, or relevant field

Experience in developing/engineering applications for a large company
