We are thrilled to announce an exciting thesis internship opportunity at Boldz in the field of circular solar. This opportunity focuses on developing a novel repair technique for glass defects in photovoltaic (PV) modules, including lab-tests at TNO, field tests at UU and research on circular business models.

About Boldz:

Boldz is a start-up dedicated to advance in circular PV solutions. We are committed to transform the renewable energy landscape by developing repair techniques for damaged and discarded PV modules. Our goal is to make the PV supply chain more circular and prevent (millions of) tons of E-waste. At Boldz we work in a small team with a drive to positively change the PV industry.

Thesis Internship Overview:

In this thesis internship, you will play an important role in developing a repair technique(s) for glass defects at PV modules. Glass defects can significantly impact the efficiency and lifespan of solar panels. Your research will focus on designing a repair methodology that addresses these defects, optimize the repair technique (practically conducting the repairs) and carry out the research (lab-test and analysis) in cooperation with TNO, all focused on enhancing the overall performance and durability of PV modules. The research is in cooperation with Utrecht University, TNO, GSW Film and Stichting OPEN.

Joining the Circular Movement:

By participating in this thesis internship, you will have the chance to collaborate with industry professionals from TNO, researchers from UU, and other motivated partners who share your passion for renewable energy and circular solutions. This collaborative environment will foster knowledge exchange, provide mentorship, and offer valuable networking opportunities.

Additional Events, Experiences and Compensation:

At Boldz, we recognize the importance of professional growth and expanding horizons. As part of this thesis internship, you will be able to visit circular solar events, work closely with PV experts and become part of the Fair Solar Network. These experiences will further enrich your understanding of the industry, expose you to new ideas, and broaden your network of like-minded individuals. Furthermore, we offer an internship compensation of €500/per month (based on a fulltime, 5 day week).

Student Profile:

The ideal student for this thesis internship opportunity is assertive, hands-on, self-directed, and creative, possessing a combination of research skills and a passion for sustainable energy solutions. Experience (e.g. courses) with photovoltaics is preferred but not mandatory.

Since this research will span over a longer period, it is preferred to carry out the thesis internship part-time (3 days per week) for a period of 8-9 months.

Conclusion:

This thesis internship opportunity at Boldz offers an exceptional chance to make an impact in the (circular) PV sector. By contributing to the development of an innovative repair technique for glass defects in PV modules, you will gain hands-on experience, advance your academic research, and create possibilities for scientific publication. Don't miss this chance to be at the forefront of circular solar innovation.
