Adyen is looking for a Business Analyst to join the Group Finance team in Amsterdam. In this role, you will be central to protecting Adyen’s financial performance across issuing, card-based and alternative payment methods.

Adyen provides payments, data, and financial products in a single solution for customers like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft. For our teams, we create an environment with opportunities for our people to succeed, backed by the culture and support to ensure they are enabled to truly own their careers. We are motivated individuals who tackle unique technical challenges at scale and solve them as a team. Together, we deliver innovative and ethical solutions that help businesses achieve their ambitions faster.

This role goes beyond traditional accounting - you'll be our team's expert on fee structures for providers such as Klarna, Mastercard and Visa, and ensure the financial stability of Adyen’s transactional cost engines. Your responsibilities include monitoring for cost anomalies, identifying (net) revenue leakage, driving the standardization and automation of reconciliation across cost engines, improving our reporting processes, and generating insights that ensure net revenue stability and predictability. You will reinforce the company’s commitment to financial integrity and ensure the accuracy of our supplier charges. As the go-to expert within Finance, you’ll work closely together with global teams, including Product, Engineering, Accounting, and Partnerships.

What You'll Do

  • Ensure the company is charged accurately by suppliers (Schemes and Alternative Payment Methods), leveraging data to detect discrepancies between predicted fees and actual invoices.
  • Work with product teams to standardize and develop reconciliation processes that scale across card-based payment methods, alternative payment methods and issuing.
  • Develop and maintain monitoring frameworks to detect anomalies in supplier charging patterns, preventing (net) revenue leakage.
  • Own and close the reconciliation gap between IC++, blend and alternative payment methods, such as Klarna and Affirm.
  • Work across the organisation (Payment Partnerships, Product) to ensure accurate buy-side pricing (relevant for Alternative Payment Methods).
  • Analyze and identify the necessary data to address financial variances, extract the required data, and perform analysis.
  • Implement automated triggers to alert Finance of unexpected cost spikes.
  • Improve, suggest and develop automation and tooling for bridging the gap between raw transaction data and financial reconciliation processes.

Who You Are

  • Excellent at analyzing and communicating complex data or technical functionality to both finance and engineering stakeholders.
  • 1-3 years working experience as a technical business, data, or finance analyst.
  • Detail-oriented, with a "detective" mindset capable of delivering high-quality work and sticking to deadlines.
  • Thrives in identifying financial inefficiencies and taking initiative to drive cost recovery. You're eager to become an expert in complex fee logic, but you also maintain a curious and critical perspective on the status quo.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment requiring excellent time management and the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Nice to have: Experienced in analyzing data using SQL and Python, as well as Excel. Any experience with data visualization tools such as Looker to build financial health dashboards is a strong advantage.

This role is based out of our Amsterdam office. We are an office-first company and value in-person collaboration; we do not offer remote-only roles.

We took an unobvious approach to starting a payments company, building a platform from scratch. Today, we're the payments platform of choice for the world's brightest companies. Our unobvious approach is a product of our diverse perspectives. This diversity, of backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives, is essential in helping us maintain our momentum.
