This training will inform participants about the use of intelligence analysis units in European law enforcement in the field of public safety, focusing on how information exchange, interoperability, and analytical processes contribute to public safety and cross-border investigations.

Based on experiences acquired during the CEPOL Exchange Programme 2025, the session will highlight similarities and differences among participating countries in the organisation and use of intelligence analysis units, interoperability tools, and cooperation mechanisms with Europol and other EU partners.

By the end of this Exchange-bite, the audience will be able to:

  • Enhance general knowledge and understanding of the methodologies, tools, and various software used in statistical and intelligence analysis units.
  • Comprehend the important role of these units in detecting crime patterns, supporting decision-making, assisting with threat prevention, and identifying links between international investigations.
  • Identify key interoperability tools and databases (e.g. SIS, Europol platforms, national systems) that facilitate international cooperation.
  • Compare different national approaches to intelligence-led policing and information exchange workflows.
  • Assess the benefits of cooperation with Europol and EMPACT in enhancing coordinated responses to transnational threats.
  • Strengthen knowledge about cascading best practices from national contact points and interoperability units.
