In this role, you will design, build, and optimize low-code solutions that support the detection of suspicious financial transactions and enable efficient, compliant investigation processes. You will work closely with business, IT, and compliance stakeholders to translate complex financial crime requirements into scalable, secure, and user-friendly applications on the Microsoft Power Platform.

Your job

As a Power Platform Expert in the Transaction Monitoring team, you will play a key role in modernizing and optimizing tools that support the detection and investigation of potential money laundering, fraud, and other illicit financial activities. You will design end-to-end solutions that enable analysts and investigators to work more efficiently, with a strong focus on usability, data quality, automation, and compliance.

You will:

  • Design, develop, and maintain Canvas Apps and Model-Driven Apps to support transaction monitoring and alert handling processes.
  • Build and optimize Power Automate flows to automate workflows, case routing, notifications, approvals, and integrations.
  • Configure and manage Microsoft Dataverse, including tables, relationships, business rules, security roles, and data lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Business Developers, Compliance Specialists, and IT Engineers to translate regulatory and operational requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Ensure solutions meet ABN AMRO standards for security, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Continuously improve existing applications based on user feedback, regulatory changes, and evolving business needs.

Working environment

You will be part of the Transaction Monitoring team within the Detecting Financial Crime (DFC) grid in the IT Value Cluster. You will work in an Agile / DevOps environment together with Product Owners, IT Leads, Business Analysts, and fellow engineers. The team is international, diverse, and collaborative, with English as the primary working language.

ABN AMRO supports hybrid working as the new normal. You will typically work both remotely and from our Amsterdam office, with flexibility to choose what works best for you. We provide the necessary tools and equipment to support a productive home-office setup.

Your profile

You are a technically strong professional with a passion for building smart, user-centric solutions that make complex processes simpler. You enjoy working at the intersection of business, technology, and compliance.

Required experience & skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in IT or application development, with strong hands-on experience on the Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Proven expertise in building Canvas Apps and Model-Driven Apps.
  • Strong experience with Power Automate for workflow and process automation.
  • Deep knowledge of Microsoft Dataverse, including data modeling, relationships, security roles, and environment management.
  • Experience working with SharePoint lists and document libraries.
  • Strong command of Power Fx (Excel-like formulas).
  • Experience with JavaScript, JSON, and TypeScript for advanced customization and integrations.
  • Experience integrating Power Platform solutions with external systems using connectors, REST APIs, and Azure services.
  • Solid understanding of UI/UX principles, with a focus on intuitive and user-friendly interfaces.
  • Experience working in an Agile / Scrum environment.

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of Transaction Monitoring, AML, or broader Financial Economic Crime (FEC) processes.
  • Experience with Azure services (Logic Apps, Functions, Service Bus, API Management).
  • Familiarity with ALM practices for Power Platform (solutions, pipelines, DevOps).

Analytical & professional skills:

  • Strong business acumen: ability to analyze requirements, bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders, and map business processes to technical solutions.
  • Solid solution design skills, with understanding of best practices for app architecture, performance optimization, and scalability.
  • Knowledge of security and compliance, including role-based access control, Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies, and governance within the Power Platform.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Proactive, results-driven mindset with a focus on delivering business value.
