APG Asset Management is seeking a Quant Developer to join the Global PE team in Amsterdam.

As a Quant Developer, you work as an expert with data, models, and software to support investment decisions in Private Equity (PE). The team has a strong ambition to bring data quality to the next level through a fully modern, digitized end-to-end process. The objective is to digitalize PE processes across the Netherlands, New York, and Hong Kong, working closely together in an international setting. Multiple Quant Developers are contributing to this transformation, with an increasing focus on leveraging advanced analytics and AI capabilities.

The role

As a Quant Developer, you play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the data and analytics strategy, leveraging and optimizing existing data infrastructure such as the PE data lake. You work closely with other Quant Developers, portfolio analysts, and portfolio managers within the PE team, while also being part of a broader, cross-departmental community of Quant Developers.

  • Streamline data ingestion and integrate relevant big data sources.
  • Collaborate with the business on decision-making.
  • Analyze complex datasets.
  • Develop machine learning models.
  • Translate results into actionable insights to drive strategic business decisions.

This position is ideal for candidates with a strong quantitative background and offers an opportunity to contribute directly to the growth and professionalization of the PE platform.

What you would do

  • Contribute to the digitalization vision of PE by using modern technology and data-driven solutions.
  • Design, develop, and maintain clean, modular, and well-documented code that remains understandable and maintainable over time.
  • Enhance data pipelines, visualizations (graphs), and analytical tools to ensure that data is processed correctly and presented clearly.
  • Conduct thematic research, such as specific PE sectors or industry trends, with a quantitative focus on pertinent topics and assess the impact on the investment portfolio.
  • Transform research findings into practical and reliable analyses that require minimal maintenance.

What you bring

In this role, you are analytically strong, enjoy collaboration, and can clearly explain complex topics to others. You combine sharp analytical thinking with a collaborative and open mindset. You thrive in a dynamic environment where complex challenges require creativity, adaptability, and clear communication. Your ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and your forward-looking perspective support long-term value creation. You enjoy contributing to solutions that deliver meaningful impact both now and in the future.

Key requirements:

  • Master’s degree (or higher) in a field that heavily involves data and quantitative analysis, such as mathematics, engineering, computer science, or other data-driven disciplines.
  • 5–8 years of experience as a quant developer or quantitative analyst, preferably in an institutional investments environment.
  • Proficiency in programming languages, particularly Python.
  • Experience with databases and data tooling, for example SQL, Pandas, NumPy, and data manipulation.
  • Experience in structured software development and collaboration, including proficiency with Git workflows and CI/CD environments.
  • Experience with specific data and visualization tools is a plus, but not essential, for example Databricks, Power BI, or Dash.
  • Excellent command of the English language.

What we offer you

  • A guaranteed end of year bonus of 8.33%
  • Attention to your vitality and personal development
  • Possibility to work from home 2–3 days per week
  • A well-managed pension
  • An attractive variable bonus plan
