Join ING as an Associate Structured Acquisition Finance (small and medium enterprises)

As an Associate SAF SME, you support private equity clients in achieving optimal acquisition financing through thorough analysis. You are substantively and commercially involved in complex financing structures and are part of rotating deal teams, typically consisting of a Senior and a Junior team member, depending on experience. As an Associate, you act as a fully-fledged deal member, playing a key role in structuring the best possible credit solution tailored to the needs of our clients. Each transaction involves a newly formed deal team, creating a dynamic and varied work environment.

You play a connecting role: internally within ING with Risk and other financial departments, and externally with private equity parties and entrepreneurs. Due to the short turnaround time of transactions and the broad sector focus, the work is dynamic and diverse.

The team

You work in a self-steering team of around 10 specialists at ING’s headquarters in Amsterdam. You are the point of contact for private equity parties and support them in acquisitions. Customer focus is central, and we aim to exceed expectations.

Within SAF SME, you work in small deal teams (2 people) in an informal environment, where you are given significant responsibility from the start. Personal growth and development are high on our agenda. We offer challenging work with plenty of opportunities to realize your ambitions. At the same time, we expect you to take initiative and go the extra mile when needed.

Working at ING Business Banking means working in a dynamic culture with open, direct, and informal communication, where teamwork and delivering top quality are key.

How to succeed

We are looking for a driven, customer-oriented Associate with strong social and analytical skills and attention to detail. You are creative, have an affinity for financial matters, and possess the commercial qualities to independently engage with clients and stakeholders to successfully close transactions. You are a professional sparring partner, both internally and externally, and play a role in shaping commercial activities on behalf of the SAF SME network.

Additionally, you:

  • Have at least higher professional education (HBO) level of thinking and working.
  • Have 2–5 years of relevant work experience in the financial sector, preferably in a transaction-driven environment.
  • Have knowledge of complex financing structures, including acquisition financing.
  • Can gather client information, perform business and financial analyses, prepare credit proposals, and work with complex financial models in Excel.
  • Are fluent in Dutch and English, both spoken and written.

Development and Career Opportunities

At ING, we believe that qualitative growth is only possible with the right people in the right place. That’s why we actively invest in your personal development. At the same time, we expect you to take initiative, stay up to date with developments in your field, and continuously improve yourself.

Rewards and benefits

We want to make sure that it’s possible for you to strike the right balance between your career and your private life.

The benefits of working with us at ING include:

  • A competitive salary, tailored to your experience and qualifications.
  • 28 vacation days depending on contract
  • Travel allowance or a lease car.
  • Pension scheme
  • 13th month salary
  • 8% Holiday payment
  • A 3.5% contribution of your gross annual salary to your Individual Savings Budget (BIS).
  • Hybrid working
  • Personal growth and challenging work with endless possibilities
  • An informal working environment with innovative colleagues
