The European Medicines Agency (EMA) is a decentralised agency of the European Union (EU), located in Amsterdam. It is responsible for the scientific evaluation, supervision and safety monitoring of medicines in the EU.
We are looking for a trainee in the Human Medicines Information Management Office at the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
About the traineeship programme
The Agency is looking for motivated, qualified recent graduates or students on an Erasmus+ or other programme or PhD students or Master's students (who posses a previous degree), who are interested in gaining experience and contribute to the Agency’s work for every patient in Europe. The purpose of a traineeship at the Agency is to perform tasks that are predominantly in the interest of the trainee’s training and principally serve to increase the trainee’s knowledge and to gain relevant experience.
Context
The assessment of clinical trial applications is a critical step in ensuring that new medicines are safe and effective. Today, this process involves reviewing large volumes of complex data, which can be time-consuming for regulatory authorities. With advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies, there is an opportunity to make this process faster and more efficient while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. This traineeship forms part of an initiative exploring how AI can support regulatory decision-making.
Project Description
The project focuses on experimenting with AI tools to simplify and shorten the assessment timelines for clinical trial applications. The aim is to explore how AI can assist experts in analysing data, identifying patterns, and supporting the automation of certain analytical steps, ultimately helping national authorities deliver faster decisions without compromising scientific rigour. As a trainee, you will contribute to this innovation initiative by working on practical solutions that could transform how medicines reach patients in the future. This is a unique opportunity to combine technology with public health impact.
