Are you an enthusiastic and curious Master’s (WO/MSc) student looking for a meaningful thesis internship where you can shape the future of Business Process Management at ABN AMRO? Then this opportunity is for you!

Business Process Management is rapidly evolving within ABN AMRO. To support this growth, the BPM Process Digitalization (BPM-PD) team is creating a bank-wide BPM maturity assessment tool. As the team behind BPM standards, frameworks, and training, BPM-PD plays a key role in strengthening our process excellence culture and improving the value we deliver to customers.

As an intern, you will help design and build this maturity model, gaining hands-on experience with ABN AMRO’s way of working. You will analyse current processes and frameworks and contribute to a standardized assessment tool that supports continuous improvement across the organisation.

We are committed to helping students shape an internship that aligns with their academic goals and interests. You can expect a collaborative, open, and supportive environment.

Your job

As a BPM Maturity Assessment Thesis Intern, your responsibilities include:

  • Researching existing Business Process Management (BPM) maturity frameworks and academic literature
  • Identifying relevant dimensions, qualifications, and indicators to include in the maturity model
  • Analysing maturity levels currently used within ABN AMRO policies and aligning them with the tool’s structure
  • Exploring and defining scoring methodologies for maturity assessment results
  • Developing growth trajectories for each maturity level, including recommended actions to progress to the next stage
  • Collaborating with departments across the bank to gather insights, input, and practitioner feedback
  • Testing, validating, and iterating on the maturity model
  • Presenting findings and delivering clear recommendations for implementation

Your working environment

You will be part of the BPM Process Digitalization (BPM-PD) team. This team shapes the organisational standards, methods, and capabilities related to Business Process Management. We support BPM implementations, process transformation, and the development of generic services and modular components that scale across the bank.

You will work in an agile environment alongside BPM consultants, process experts, product owners, and data-driven colleagues. Your daily work may involve research methods, BPM frameworks, process modelling tools, data analysis approaches, and ABN AMRO’s internal process standards.

Our culture values collaboration, continuous learning, reflection, and innovation. You will be surrounded by experienced professionals who are eager to support your growth.

  • You must remain enrolled at a Dutch university for the full duration of the internship

  • You are available 4 days per week for 6 months
  • This internship supports the development of your master’s thesis
