In this role, you will join Ahold Delhaize as a Strategic Sourcing Manager Construction, working on establishing competitive deals related to Indirect Procurement for all our European retail brands.

About Ahold Delhaize

We’re Ahold Delhaize, one of the world’s largest food retail groups and a leader in both supermarkets and e-commerce. Together with our 17 strong local retail brands in the United States, Europe and Indonesia, we make a meaningful difference in the lives of our brands’ customers, our people and the world around us. We offer a highly dynamic, international work environment in which our associates thrive.

Your new work environment

In this role, you will be part of the NFR Netherlands team responsible for strategic sourcing of indirect products and/or services within one of the NfR categories: construction.

The Not For Resale (NFR) sourcing organization leverages Ahold Delhaize’s European footprint to drive savings by running both local and cross-border sourcing events across six countries. As part of this team, Strategic Sourcing Managers collaborate closely with stakeholders from strong local brands to source all non-resale goods and services, acting as one company toward suppliers to deliver greater value. The department is known for its skilled colleagues, open communication, and supportive culture, offering autonomy, responsibility, and the chance to work with experts from different countries. NFR provides continuous support to help employees grow their talents and broaden their horizons.

Key Responsibilities

Your role is highly diverse and encompasses various responsibilities. You will be managing the sourcing of goods and services related to the building, remodeling, and maintenance of our stores and warehouses with a strong focus on total cost of ownership.

Your key tasks include:

  • Developing and executing sourcing strategies for construction related topics, leveraging our European scale, to achieve cost reductions and efficiency gains.
  • Selecting and contracting suppliers, including both new and incumbent partners, to ensure the best combination of innovation, quality, and value.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to identify and deliver reliable, value-driven sourcing solutions that support business goals.
  • Exploring and scouting for innovative solutions with suppliers to achieve building process efficiencies, reduce TCO, and achieve sustainability targets.
  • Creating and maintaining strong supplier relationships, fostering long-term collaboration and driving impactful partnerships across local and international markets.
  • Actively collaborating with sourcing managers locally and cross-border to align on best practices, streamline sourcing efforts, and maximize the benefits of our European footprint.

What’s in it for you?

We offer plenty of growth opportunities and various cross-brand career options; flexible working hours; a hybrid working model (we ask you to spend at least 50% of your working time at the office); and the chance to drive meaningful change on a global scale. You can look forward to a good work-life balance, and the chance to work in an inclusive environment that wholeheartedly encourages growth and welcomes you just the way you are.

Plus:

  • Attractive bonuses
  • A first-rate pension plan
  • 20 vacation days and the option to buy an additional 12.5 days from your personal ‘flex budget’
  • Travel expenses or an NS travel card / Company car
  • A laptop and smartphone

What You Bring

For this position, the ideal candidate will possess at least some of the following qualifications:

  • Experience in strategic sourcing or procurement within the construction industry, with a proven track record of managing suppliers and sourcing for large-scale construction, remodeling, and/or maintenance projects.
  • Strong project management skills to effectively oversee and navigate complex sourcing projects, ensuring timely and successful delivery.
  • A solid understanding of building materials, cost price breakdowns, and common processes and practices in the construction industry, allowing you to assess opportunities, negotiate effectively, and create value.
  • A proactive and collaborative mindset to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including stakeholders from the facilities, construction, finance, and legal department as well as international colleagues.
  • An analytical and strategic approach to identify opportunities for efficiency, innovation, and cost optimization, both locally and on a European scale.
