Quant Client Portfolio Manager

This role sits within the Quant Client Portfolio Management (QCPM) team, part of the Investments department at Robeco.

Department

The Quant Client Portfolio Management (QCPM) team is part of the Investments department at Robeco. The team's main responsibility is to grow Robeco's quantitative investment capabilities. They do this by presenting Robeco's Quant strategies to the full range of client types and providing content for sales and marketing teams. The QCPM team is involved in every stage of the commercial process for both wholesale and institutional clients globally. The team has five Client Portfolio Managers based in Rotterdam, Frankfurt and Hong Kong, and four Investment Specialists based in Rotterdam.

Position & Requirements

As a Quant Client Portfolio Manager, your responsibility is to grow Robeco’s quantitative business by providing detailed insights into Robeco’s quant strategies in the sales and retention process. Together with Sales, you are responsible for presentations to existing and potential clients or distribution partners, including investment consultants. This includes online and face to face meetings with professional investors as well as presentations ranging from small to large audiences.

In addition, you will provide relevant written product- and market commentaries on the capabilities you cover. You will also enhance presentation materials for commercial use where possible. Moreover, you will handle incoming questions and requests including reviewing RFPs. Educating and informing the sales force on relevant developments within the quant investing space is also your responsibility.

We are looking for a distinguished professional to join us, one who possesses deep expertise in investing and the stewardship of a business owner. You combine technical expertise with commercial drive and exceptional communication skills. Close cooperation with the Quant Research and Portfolio Management teams and other Client Portfolio Managers and Investment Specialists within Robeco is essential. The Client Portfolio Manager will be stationed in Rotterdam, and international travel is an important part of this position.

CPM Responsibilities

• Serve as the subject matter expert on Robeco’s Quant Investment solutions
• Develop a strong partnership with the research and portfolio management teams in order to be a credible and highly effective PM substitute, serving as the product expert to other CPMs, distribution, and marketing.
• Develop marketing and educational materials, including servicing presentations and other materials for publication.
• Interact with investors and their advisors, including investment consultants, to identify and assess investment needs and recommend suitable investment strategies and solutions.
• Identify demand for new products; develop, position, and support those products.
• Partner with other client-facing Robeco professionals to service and grow our fixed income business globally.

What you bring

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant client-facing work experience in asset management or sell-side industry in an investment role, specialized in fundamental or quantitative equities.
• A relevant university degree as well as having obtained CFA, CAIA or equivalent designations is required.
• Entrepreneurial self-starter with a demonstrated track record of thinking and acting like a business owner.
• Ability to take full accountability for the growth and success of your franchise, expertly balancing commercial drive with acute stakeholder awareness.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with aptitude for public speaking in both formal and informal settings, in front of a variety of types and sizes of audiences.
• Strong commercial drive, willingness to acquire deep investment expertise, and ability to present specialist knowledge in a convincing way.
• Ability to structure, prioritize, and work well under pressure while meeting the high-quality standards (internal) clients expect.
• Comfortable in challenging situations.
• Affinity with sustainability is a necessity.
• Excellent command of English; good command of a second language such as Dutch, French, German or Spanish is a plus.
