How internships at big brands helped Fabian discover his career direction with the help from Magnet.me

Some students already know exactly where they’re headed. Others figure it out by trying as much as they can. For Fabian, internships weren’t just a requirement, they were the key to figuring out what kind of marketer he wanted to become.
After exploring digital marketing at Jacobs Douwe Egberts and campaign creation at Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, he’s now graduating with the experience, confidence and clarity he was hoping for.
And it all started on Magnet.me.
Why Fabian always aimed for big-name companies
“In my opinion, that’s where you gain the most experience, get the most responsibility, grow your network, and, let’s be honest, it looks best on your CV.”
That’s why interning at larger companies was always high on his list. He knew that, in those environments, he’d learn fast. And as someone who already felt drawn to marketing and video, he was eager to dive in.
“Through my studies I found out that I had a real passion for everything around marketing and video.”
Fabian first landed a Digital marketing internship at Jacobs Douwe Egberts through Magnet.me. And that’s when things started to fall into place.
“That’s when I knew I’d pulled the right rope. It confirmed that I want to continue in this direction.”
But that was just the beginning.
Wanting to become more all-round before graduating
“I wanted to become as all-round as possible before I graduate,” Fabian says.
After focusing on the technical side of marketing at JDE, he wanted to stretch his creative muscles, especially in campaign development. That led him to Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP), where he joined the Campaign creation team.
“That was exactly what I was looking for.”
Finding internships without the pressure
Even with clear goals, applying wasn’t easy.
“I honestly can’t stand the fake atmosphere that hangs around job platforms and social media, especially LinkedIn. Competition is crazy and it just adds pressure.”
Fabian understood that many students didn’t yet have polished portfolios or perfect profiles and yet they still had the talent and drive to succeed.
“How are students supposed to stand out from 50 other applicants? On Magnet.me, that pressure disappeared completely,” he says.
“It creates this informal space around internships, like the swiping feature, and being contacted by enthusiastic companies makes that first step so much less stressful.”
And it wasn’t just the experience, the platform’s quality stood out too.
“There were lots of different types of internships, but wherever you ended up, you knew the internship would be strong and high-quality.”
A smarter way to find internships
Looking for internships in marketing can feel overwhelming.
“In my opinion, the sky is the limit and as a student you often don’t even know what’s possible,” he says. That’s where Magnet.me helped.
“Magnet.me gives a really realistic view and comes with good suggestions. Being able to swipe through matches, explore companies you like, save your favourites and chat directly, all of that helps you figure out what you want and how to get closer to landing it.”
There wasn’t one single feature that made the difference. It was the full experience that helped him move forward.
“Magnet.me brings internship search into the now. The whole design and approach is completely original, I’ve never seen anything like it. And I think it’s fantastic.”
