With international teams in Curaçao, the Netherlands, Colombia, Bonaire, and beyond, we work in a multicultural environment where technology, public impact, and collaboration come together.

The Role & Your Impact

As a Senior Test Engineer at Blyce, you are first and foremost responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our software solutions through structured, hands-on testing. In addition, you coordinate testing activities within your project team, coach junior testers, create structure in the testing process, monitor progress and quality, and advise stakeholders on risks, priorities and improvements.

  • Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands
  • €4,600 - €6,100 per month
  • Product Development

What Will You Do?

This role consists of approximately 70% hands-on testing and 30% test coordination activities.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Perform detailed manual testing of functional and non-functional requirements to validate software quality, reliability, usability, and security.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support testing activities throughout the full test lifecycle in line with Blyce’s Test Strategy and Test Policy.
  • Review the test basis, conduct product risk analyses, assess the impact of defects, and translate findings into effective test approaches, plans, scripts, and effort estimates.
  • Contribute to sprint and release planning and support test automation where appropriate.
  • Monitor test progress and quality metrics, preserve testware, and report clearly on results, risks, and quality status to project teams, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide well-founded advice on quality-related decisions and proactively address risks, bottlenecks, priorities, and improvements.
  • Perform peer reviews and quality checks and contribute to continuous improvements in testing processes, procedures, standards, deliverables, and quality indicators.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary and international teams, share knowledge, coach less experienced testers, and help develop testing best practices.
  • Act as a visible specialist in an area such as functional testing, security, performance, or automation, taking responsibility for the quality and development of that specialization.
  • Help translate unit goals into team goals and provide input for objectives.
  • Stay up to date with developments in testing, quality assurance, and information security, and consistently apply company policies, processes, and procedures.

What You Bring

We are looking for someone who combines strong manual testing expertise with the ability to bring structure, clarity, and ownership to the testing process.

Must-have:

  • At least 7 years of experience as a software tester, with a strong focus on manual testing.
  • Experience creating test plans, executing structured test cycles, and writing test reports.
  • Experience with product risk analysis, test estimation, sprint planning, and stakeholder advice.
  • Strong understanding of structured testing methods.
  • ISTQB or TMAP certification with proven experience applying the methodology in practice.
  • Experience working in international or multicultural software development teams.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Dutch.
  • A precise, structured, and quality-oriented way of working.

Nice to have:

  • Experience coaching or coordinating a small team of testers.
  • Tax domain expertise.

About You

You thrive in this role if you:

  • Accountable: Take ownership of commitments and outcomes, proactively manage risks, and provide well-founded recommendations.
  • Assertive: Communicate concerns and viewpoints clearly and constructively, remain confident and professional during disagreement, and make effective decisions under pressure.
  • Independent: Work autonomously, show initiative and analytical curiosity, monitor your own progress, and continuously develop your knowledge and skills.
  • Structured: Apply testing knowledge, standards, tools, and traceability consistently while breaking complex work into manageable steps and maintaining accuracy under changing priorities.
  • Collaborative: Adapt to team practices, value different perspectives, share knowledge, communicate progress transparently, and help improve team processes across cultures and time zones.

What We Offer

  • A competitive gross monthly salary between €4500 and €6100 depending on experience (based on full-time employment in the Netherlands).
  • 28 vacation days, with the option to buy or sell 8 additional days each year.
  • 8.33% vacation pay.
  • A gross variable compensation equivalent to an extra month’s salary per year, paid out per month.
  • A gross fixed expense allowance of €300,- per month.
  • An annual reward, linked to company results.
  • Full coverage of your basic health insurance, plus a strong pension plan via a.s.r..
