Analyst Investment Banking - Debt Advisory

  • Full-time
  • Amsterdam, Zuidas

About the job

Due to the continued growth of our Debt Advisory team, we are looking for an ambitious Analyst to join our team in Amsterdam.

Our Debt Advisory team advises private equity sponsors, their portfolio companies, entrepreneurs and corporates on acquisition financings, refinancings, recapitalizations and tailored capital structure solutions, including senior debt, hybrid and equity-linked financing instruments. We primarily operate in the Dutch and international mid-market, typically advising on debt packages ranging from EUR 20m to EUR 200m.

As an independent advisor, we help clients determine their debt capacity, identify suitable financing structures and select the right financing partners. We work with a broad network of banks, direct lenders and other institutional financing providers, supporting clients from the initial analysis through to successful closing.

As an Analyst, you will be involved throughout the transaction process, combining financial and credit analysis with the preparation and execution of financing transactions. You will work in small deal teams, with direct exposure to clients, lenders and other advisors from an early stage.

The role offers a steep learning curve, significant responsibility and the opportunity to develop both your analytical and commercial skills. You will receive hands-on guidance from experienced colleagues while gradually taking greater ownership of your work.

What you'll do

  • Perform financial and credit analyses to assess companies, business plans, cash flows and debt capacity;
  • Build and analyse financial models, including leverage, debt service capacity and downside scenarios;
  • Support the development of financing structures, considering leverage, pricing, flexibility and execution certainty;
  • Prepare financing memoranda, lender presentations and other transaction materials;
  • Support lender outreach and selection processes, including discussions with banks, direct lenders and other financing providers;
  • Analyze and compare financing proposals, term sheets and key commercial terms;
  • Support transaction execution, including due diligence, negotiations, financing documentation and closing;
  • Research companies, industries and financing markets to identify relevant developments, risks and opportunities;
  • Participate in client meetings and work closely with colleagues from our M&A and ECM teams in the Netherlands and the international Oaklins network.

Who you are

We are looking for an ambitious professional with strong analytical skills, an entrepreneurial mindset and a genuine interest in investment banking. You enjoy understanding how businesses operate, are eager to learn and thrive in a dynamic environment where teamwork, initiative and quality matter.

You bring:

  • A completed university Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Econometrics, Business Administration or another relevant field, with a strong academic track record;
  • 0–3 years of relevant work experience, including internships. Previous investment banking experience, either through an internship or an analyst position, is a strong plus. Experience in leveraged finance, corporate banking, transaction services or related fields is also valued;
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with an understanding of corporate finance fundamentals and an affinity with financial modelling;
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate financial analyses into clear and convincing conclusions;
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial and solution-oriented mindset, combined with a strong interest in developing commercial skills and insights;
  • A strong work ethic, attention to detail and the ability to deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines;
  • The ambition to learn quickly, take initiative and assume increasing responsibility;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative attitude, contributing positively to the team;
  • Fluency in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.

Interested in being part of the Debt Advisory team but do you have limited relevant experience or a different academic background?

We also offer a Debt Advisory internship, providing an opportunity to develop relevant financial and analytical skills while discovering whether the work, team culture and development opportunities are a good fit for you.
