As a Transaction Monitoring Scenario Expert in Financial Economic Crime (FEC), you help Rabobank proactively protect its customers, society, and itself against money laundering and terrorism financing by designing and improving the functional design of Transaction Monitoring detection rules. You will work with 43,822 Rabobank colleagues worldwide.

Preventing financial economic crime (FEC) is a key priority for both our society and our organization, and as a bank, we play a major role in this field. As a TM Scenario Expert, you will help combat FEC risks by designing and continuously improving transaction monitoring rules based on identified typologies, leveraging your deep understanding and awareness of money laundering and terrorist financing (ML/TF) typologies and risks.

As a TM Scenario Expert, you are part of the TM Control Standards department within the Transaction Monitoring pillar of the Financial Economic Crime organization. You will work in a dynamic, innovative environment, collaborating with multidisciplinary squads and internal stakeholders. As part of this role, you apply your understanding on regulatory requirements, ML/TF typologies and operational challenges via clear and actionable design requirements. You play a pivotal role in designing detection rules and ensuring the overall effectiveness of the transaction monitoring system that protect our customers and our organization.

  • Lead the functional design and improvement of TM rules that generate alerts for suspicious patterns or behaviors, leveraging your expertise in ML/TF risks and typologies
  • Continuously optimize and enhance TM rules in collaboration with data scientists, leverage data-driven insights to address emerging risks and adapt to regulatory changes effectively.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including FEC Technology, TM Operations, and Compliance to ensure successful implementation and alignment of TM rules with organization objectives.

  • Investigate and resolve complex TM issues through evidence-based problem solving and effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Enable data-driven decisions on TM rule changes by assessing risk, performance metrics, and regulatory expectations, and presenting clear proposals to stakeholders.

What we offer you

  • Salary: Gross monthly salary between EUR 5,030 and EUR 8,563 (scale 09 - 10) for a 36-hour work week.

You & your talent

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
  • 5+ years direct working experience in FEC, demonstrating strong knowledge of money laundering and terrorism finance. Hands-on experience in transaction monitoring is a plus.
  • Knowledge of national and international AML/CTF laws and regulations and knowledge of the retail banking domain, financial products and services.
  • Pragmatic mindset to translate the ML/TF risk exposure and typologies into practical solutions in Transaction Monitoring detection rules.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary squad and collaborate effectively with Data Scientists.
  • Ability to interpret analytical outputs to drive rule design and optimization
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, ability to stimulate collaboration and thinking outside the box.
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills in English.
