On behalf of our client, a leading organisation in the energy transition, Improven is currently seeking an INTERIM BUSINESS CONTROLLER to start immediately.
The client is an energy network company, dealing not only with traditional forms of energy but also with, for example, green gas and CO₂. About the department
The Business Control department supports the Business Line in the controlled delivery of large-scale storage and terminal projects. We ensure financial management, predictability and transparent decision-making within complex investment projects. Together with project teams, we link costs, planning, risks and progress to provide clear insights. Within the Business Line, we work on essential infrastructure that contributes to energy security and a sustainable future. Collaboration is central to the team, and there is scope to deepen your expertise and further develop your project control skills.
The assignment
The assignment focuses on further strengthening financial and operational control, supporting the development of management information and governance, and contributing to quality improvements within the organisation.
The assignment includes, amongst other things, the following tasks and deliverables:
- Developing financial models and scenario analyses that provide insight into the impact of decisions, risks and interdependencies.
- Preparing and coordinating reports, including the analysis of results, variations and trends.
- Preparing forecasts, budgets and business cases to support decision-making.
- Contribute to the preparation of the annual accounts audit, including reconciliation, providing supporting evidence and addressing audit issues.
- Developing and monitoring KPIs and dashboards designed to provide insight into progress, risks and dependencies.
- Linking financial information to operational, commercial and project-related developments.
- Supporting efforts to strengthen governance, compliance, internal controls and the audit trail.
- Identifying and developing opportunities for improvement in the areas of processes, information provision and quality assurance.
- Formulating recommendations for stakeholders based on the analyses carried out and the findings.
What do you bring?
For this assignment, we are seeking a professional with proven knowledge and experience in the fields of finance, control and business control.
- A level of working and thinking equivalent to a higher professional education (HBO) or university (WO) qualification in business economics, finance or business administration.
- At least 5 years’ relevant experience in the field of business control, commercial control, finance or similar consultancy assignments.
- Proven experience with forecasts, budgets, business plans and financial modelling.
- Ability to analyse financial and contractual issues and translate them into clear courses of action.
- Knowledge of accounting, cash flow and risk & control is an advantage.
- Experience in maintaining contact with various stakeholders.
- Excellent command of the Dutch and English languages both verbally and in writing.
- An interest in professional development, risk management and management information.
Specific deliverables
- Supporting evidence, documentation and preparatory files for the purposes of the annual accounts audit and for responding to audit enquiries.
- Detailed proposals for improvement aimed at professionalisation, standardisation and the safeguarding of processes and information provision.
- Consultancy services based on analyses and findings, for the benefit of management and stakeholders.
