Managing Director Benelux

Royal Van Leeuwen is looking for a new Managing Director Benelux. This role combines strategic leadership, commercial acumen, operational excellence, and people leadership to further strengthen Van Leeuwen’s position as the leading distributor of steel pipes and tube products in the Benelux region.

The family-owned company, with its head office in Zwijndrecht, the Netherlands, is active in virtually all industrial sectors. Van Leeuwen’s employees have specialist knowledge of sourcing, processing, project management, logistics and stock planning and work closely together with customers in its markets.

• Benelux: sales: EUR 300 - 350 million with 400 employees.

The Managing Director Benelux is responsible for the performance, growth, and long-term success of Van Leeuwen’s largest regional business. Reporting with full accountability for the Benelux P&L, the role requires a commercially driven and operationally strong leader who can successfully navigate a complex and evolving market environment while preserving the values and culture of Van Leeuwen as a family-owned enterprise.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop Van Leeuwen’s largest regional business, with full accountability for P&L performance, growth, profitability, and long-term value creation.
• Define and execute the Benelux strategy, translating Group objectives into clear commercial and operational priorities.
• Drive sustainable growth through market development, customer engagement, business development, and operational excellence.
• Lead and develop a decentralized branch network, ensuring alignment, accountability, and consistent execution across the region.
• Foster a high-performance culture that reflects Van Leeuwen’s values as a family-owned enterprise while promoting continuous improvement and innovation.
• Ensure operational excellence across all business activities, including sales, distribution, logistics, customer service, and supply chain operations.
• Maintain regular visibility throughout the branch network and foster engagement with employees across all levels of the organization.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 10+ years of senior leadership experience with full P&L responsibility in a decentralized organization of comparable scale and complexity.
• Strong background in trading, distribution, and/or manufacturing, with significant commercial and operational exposure in industrial B2B environments; steel industry experience is advantageous.
• Proven track record of driving business transformation, organizational development, and cultural change while building high-performing teams.
• Strategic yet hands-on leader who combines long-term vision with strong execution capabilities and a pragmatic, results-oriented approach.
