The Beaver® series is recognized worldwide as the benchmark for standard cutter suction dredgers. Within the Product Market Group (PMG) Dredging Standard Modular Vessels, we are responsible for the complete lifecycle of these iconic vessels. From concept and sales support to continuous product development and lifecycle management.

As a Designer, you play a key role in the pre-contract phase. Working closely with Cost Estimators, Sales Managers, Product Management, and technical specialists, you develop tailored dredging solutions that meet our customers' operational needs and support successful project acquisition.

You combine technical expertise with commercial awareness, translating customer requirements into practical, competitive, and sustainable vessel designs. In doing so, you directly contribute to maintaining the Beaver® series' position as the global market leader.

What you will do

  • Act as the primary focal point for all design-related topics during the sales process.
  • Analyze customer requests and identify their operational requirements and challenges.
  • Serve as the bridge between customers, Sales, Product Management, and engineering disciplines.
  • Develop technical concepts and customized solutions based on the Beaver® product portfolio.
  • Coordinate input from internal stakeholders and ensure timely delivery of technical information.
  • Support the preparation of commercial proposals by providing design studies, technical specifications, and customer-oriented solutions.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear and compelling customer value propositions.
  • Monitor developments in the global dredging market and identify opportunities to improve our products and solutions.

What makes this role unique

This role combines engineering, customer interaction, commercial influence, and product development. You will work on international opportunities, contribute directly to winning new projects, and help shape the future of one of the most successful dredging product lines in the industry.

What success looks like

You understand the customer's operational needs and ask the right questions to uncover the underlying challenge. By combining market insight, technical expertise, and product knowledge, you develop solutions that are commercially competitive, operationally effective, and aligned with the PMG's strategic objectives.

Our ideal candidate

  • Holds a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Has at least 3 years of experience as a Designer or Engineer within the dredging industry or a related sector.
  • Combines strong technical knowledge with a commercial mindset.
  • Is comfortable working in a dynamic environment with multiple projects running simultaneously.
  • Demonstrates strong stakeholder management and project coordination skills.
  • Understands global trends such as sustainability, climate adaptation, digitalization, and their impact on dredging operations.
  • Is able to evaluate design alternatives and provide a solid basis for decision-making.
  • Is curious about customers, their operations, and the challenges they face.
