Would you like to play a lead role in design and engineering phases that enhance the capabilities and improve the efficiencies of some of the world’s most technically advanced offshore vessels?

Allseas is a world-leading contractor in the offshore energy market, with dynamism, rapid progress and pioneering spirit at its core. Designed and optimised in-house, our versatile fleet of specialised vessels are fitted with advanced equipment and systems to perform in some of the harshest and remotest environments in the world.

We have an exciting opportunity for an energetic Hydraulic Engineer motivated by the goal to increase efficiency and drive sustainability across the Allseas fleet to join our Innovations Division in Delft, the Netherlands.

Your role

As Hydraulic Engineer you are part of the go-to team for all matters related to our vessels’ hydraulic systems. You are central to all engineering phases from conceptual design through detailed design for new or existing hydraulic systems, including installation supervision, testing and commissioning. Throughout this process you cooperate with engineers from various disciplines and colleagues from other departments like Heavy Lift Engineering, Operations and Technical Department.

As Hydraulic Engineer you are responsible for:

  • Design and engineering: provision of solutions to facilitate the project with safe, reliable and innovative designs, technical specifications and procedures.
  • Support and stakeholder management: working in a multi-disciplinary team environment, aligning your work with the team lead and the various stakeholders, contributing to departmental development, and providing offshore support during project execution on vessel or yard.
  • Documentation for approval: preparation of documentation for projects covering the technical solutions, models and drawings, calculations, method statements and operational procedures, ensuring they meet safety, performance and regulatory standards for class and/or client approval.
  • Applying in-depth understanding of concepts and principles within your discipline and a basic knowledge of these elements in other disciplines.
  • Using strong analytical skills to weigh aspects thoroughly in complicated or novel situations and drawing conclusions based on criteria, facts and previous experiences.
  • Interfacing with various disciplines including project team, vessel crew, clients, subcontractors, certification authorities and marine warranty surveyor to define efficient and cost-effective solutions and provide ongoing engineering support.
  • Keeping your knowledge up to date through courses, seminars and other training.

What we expect from you

To be successful in this role you are solution-minded and resourceful and have the ability to work independently, accepting ownership of assigned responsibilities. You have the ability to learn concepts and technical details of complex systems and thrive by working in a fast-paced, creative environment.

Besides this, you have:

  • BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or equivalent.
  • Affinity with the offshore and marine environment is a big plus.
  • Proven knowledge or high motivation to learn the ins and outs of hydraulic system engineering.
  • Experience with 2D and 3D modelling software such as Hydrosym, Autocad and Inventor.
  • The ability to zoom out to see the bigger picture and bring different disciplines together when necessary, including Mechanical Engineering, Automation and Electrical Engineering.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel and work offshore, around 3 to 4 weeks per year.
  • Willingness to dive deep into your field and become an expert in your area.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of the Dutch language is a plus.
