Overview

As an EU ETS Verifier, you will independently conduct verifications at organizations in The Netherlands and Belgium that fall under the European Emissions Trading System (ETS).

Based on your assessment of their annual CO₂ reports, you will prepare a verification statement that clients submit along with the CO2 annual report to the competent authority, such as the Dutch Emissions Authority (Nea) or the Flemish Energy- & Climate Agency (VEKA).

In this role:

  • You will perform verifications for industrial companies, power plants, refineries, paper- and chemical factories (EU ETS 1) or for oil traders, fuel distributors or heating companies (EU ETS 2).
  • You will engage in interviews with clients and their staff at various levels.
  • You will gain insight into their production processes and emission flows and visit sites to verify the data and underlying systems.
  • You will assess data on sold volumes and associated emissions, often based on administrative systems and chain information.
  • You will perform ISO audits (e.g. ISO 9001, 14001, 50001, CO2 Prestatieladder) after the peak season of EU ETS.

What we offer

  • To be part of an experienced and dedicated team of verifiers
  • To have the freedom of scheduling your own verifications
  • To experience that no day is the same, your workweek is highly varied
  • To participate in harmonization meetings and subject-matter sessions
  • To follow practical training courses to maintain your qualifications
  • To build a diverse client portfolio – from large industrial consumers to logistics chains
  • To truly be part of a warm and committed organization
  • Good employment conditions, flexible working hours, and ample opportunities for professional development
  • Opportunity to growth as a technical responsible for verification schemes and CO2 PL

About you

  • You have experience with CO₂ emissions trading or data verification, or are eager to learn
  • You hold a relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree (e.g. engineering, environmental science, chemistry, data)
  • You are analytical, detail-oriented, customer focused, and a strong communicator (both verbally and in writing)
  • You have a structured and efficient way of working with strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize
  • You are well-organized, stress-resistant, and positive and can work both independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of EU ETS guidelines, monitoring plans, and the role of competent authorities is a plus
  • You are proficient in Dutch and English
